Re: Why figure it out for yourself when you can copy what someone else has
I'll be serious for a moment here Jason and say this is the wrong way to go about this grievance. By not naming the tuner you are having a problem with you may very well be causing some people to think it is one of your competitors that it is in fact not. This is not fair to those who have not participated in this infringement.

Well I guess on the bright side, the imitator is not well known enough for people to know that they are imitating.
Obviously I was not the first person to twin turbo a Viper. When I was in the early stages of developing our turbo systems I had to go to Houston to replace an intercooler on a customer's car. John Hennessey was nice enough to give me use of one of his lifts to work on the car. Prior to going to Houston I called John and explained to him that we were currently developing a twin turbo system and as a professional courtesy I asked him to hide anything that had to do with his turbo systems because I did not want to see it. I wanted to make sure that my design was original and that John didn't ever feel like I tried to steal any of his ideas. The result was a completely different turbo system which bared no resemblance whatsoever. I guess not everyone operates with the same code of ethics. Fortunately like with Rolex and Brolex, the look may have been imitated but the technology inside that makes it what it is has not.
Patents are relatively worthless in this application. It would only take minor differences to get around them.
As far as who the offending party is, I know who it is, they know who it is, some of you know who it is, so if you see a turbo system that looks like one of mine but isn't one of mine then you know who the culprit is.

Actually it doesn't suck, its good business and keeps big dogs like you in honest check. That's why people came to you for S/C,you had a better product/cheaper.I hope you'll see Paolo's set up soon, that'll be one less conflict ya'll have since it's night/day from your DIY kit.
Best of Luck!
PS.Nice job on Casey's set up,he showed off at our VCA meeting.
Re: Why figure it out for yourself when you can copy what someone else has done
I could've posted Paolo's Viper DIY TT Pictures here but as a kind respect to Jason I did not and chose not to post the pictures here. The projects are night and day different and shouldn't even be compared. Disparaging remarks like the keyboard cowboy goofball above really reflect poorly on the community when we are all trying to gain big Power. Because had this brazen fool even read the title of the thread he would've noticed that I stated EARLY PICS of the Paolo Castellano DIY TT in Process. I think I can put it best by saying what I said above to Jason...

Jason,
NoOne forgets who led the revolution to the early early 8's. It was you. No One will forget that fact when you break into the 7's either.
Your quality will not be denied nor overlooked.
Cheers,

It would be rather ironic to use a slogan as overused as "OFTEN IMITATED NEVER DUPLICATED" to advertise the fact that other people copy his ideas.

I agree. I have not beem around for the last couple of months so I can only speculate that it is either RSI, UGR or Macedo. Certainly not Hennessey and Paolo's is front mount.
Didn't CCW make a wheel that looks pretty close to an HRE?
Isn't the VEC1 actually the base split second?
Don't see the difference here IMO. Others are gonna create TT kits since they are whats hot now. Just like they did with s/c's and nitrous kits.
To me TT does not = wheel.
This isn't that cutting edge is it? Only so many ways for piping to go in these cars if the turbos are gonna be in the footwells???

Exactly what I was thinking...
I mean come on, the only pics any of you guys are showing is from up top and the only thing anyone can see is the charge pipes entering the throttle body... so lets see we have some pipes that go from the intercooler in front of the radiator to the throttle bodies... what are they supposed to put some S curves or spiral loops in there? The physical construction of the turbo system will hardly ever stand to be truely unique... an excellent builder stands out by using superior materials, superior craftsmenship (component clearance and quality welds, etc), superior knowledge leading to precision selection of turbochargers, correct balance of supporting modifications in ancillary systems (ignition and fuel delivery). and most importantly proper selection and excellent tuning of the engine management. These days physically building a turbo system for a complex vehicle is no miracle.
Now I see why no Viper tuners ever show off their manifolds/turbo layout... if they are so sensitive about what the intercooler pipes look like, I cant imagine how much they would stress if someones manifold that mounts the turbo in the same exact, extremely crampt, only available space on the side of the engine, looked alike. Cause if your not going crazy like SVS and Paolo by putting them in the front... theres only one spot for them.
I think Heffners reputation is outstanding enough that the last thing he needs to worry about is someone running some intercooler pipes the same way... just keep up the good work!

This is my point exactly. Heffner is potentially bashing all other tuners who are making the TT. If you are going to accuse someone of something unethical and can't put a name up, then pull the post. This is beneath your reputation Heffner.
