Programming a New Remote ?

I bought a new FOB to back up the one I have. The fag orignial owner has the original backup, but still hasn't sent it and is not responding to my emails.

says to ground terminal 1. Not sure what they mean ground green "program" wire. Anyone help? Thanks.

Re: Programming a New Remote ?

I've tried that unsuccessfully on the second Gen cars and always ended up borrowing a DRB to program a new FOB.

That is odd, Larry...I used that to reprogram two new fobs (the newer style to replace the stock 97 BRICKS)!! It did take two tries....but it finally worked.

I could never, ever get that way to work for me on the later cars. The early cars, not a problem. That is the correct wire, DV8tor.

Do I just pull the terminal 1 fuse and stick a wire in there and ground the other end to metal somewhere? Want to make sure.

God no!!! There is a green wire usually tucked up under the dash to the left of the radio that has a rubber boot on the end and nothing plugged into it. Find that wire, ground it and you should be good to go with programming. Just keep in mind, both remotes have to be programmed during the same programming cycle. It is usually easier to just stop by a dealer with both remotes and say please program these. With our DRB it take about five minutes and a reputable dealer will not charge for something this simple. I know we don't.

Re: Programming a New Remote ?

I got the newer style fobs for my '99, and reprogrammed all four. The only hitch is make sure you have a REALLY GOOD GROUND. Works like a champ!
