Hello, I posted early this week asking for opinions on several vipers, thanks to those who responded. I decided to go with the final edition gts(#295 I believe), it's a super clean car with only 2100miles. I am extremly excited and I am taking delivery on Tuesday. I look forward to learning about my new car here, and hopefully contributing a little to this site. Tuesday seems so far away.
I bought #324 last week (see Avatar). So far so good. I would rather have bought absolutely stock but previous owner had upgraded quite a bit. I would like to know where you purchased yours and if these cars vary in price accordingly. I suspect yours was valued higher since I had 17000 miles onboard.
I am not sure, I have to learn about the car first. I have heard there is not much to do other than headers and exhaust, is that true?
You can do just about anything to the Viper that you really want to. Superchargers and Turbos are pretty common these days. Just look at Gary Javo: www.garyjavo.com , Chad Williams, and Paolo Castellano. All of these guys have made, or are making monster power. Roe Superchargers can put you at 800 crank pretty inexpensively. Check Macedo motor sports if you would like to go that route. Otherwise, congrats on the purchase and have fun.

Headers and exhaust is a must; the stock exhuast doesn't really sound all that good. In your previous thread you stated you were coming from a ZO6. If this is the case, then you will be disappointed with the exhaust note.
I just ordered Belanger headers, Corsa exhaust, and Random Tech Stainless Steel high-flow cats from Parts Rack. This really opens up the flow of the exhuast and gives the Viper a deep and sonorous growl. I have a couple of sound clips if you want them. Just give me your e-mail and I will send them to you.
I also got 3.55s for the rear end. This will definitely add more punch to the bottom-end. I was also thinking about installing an aluminum flywheel, but there seems to be a lot of diverging opinions on its effectiveness, so I will skip that mod for now. The amount of mods you can do is endless. About the only thing that limits you is the amount of dough you can spend.

PM sent. I can see myself re-doing the exhaust for sound quality, but I can't help but wonder how much speed I really need. These things are fast. Granted a year from now I may be singing a different song.
Yeah, there's tons of mods you can do just the same as you can do to any car. However, with a Viper you'll be starting with a good base setup and plenty of displacement. Just don't expect prices similar to mods you would do to other cars!
Exhaust upgrades are an absolute must! You can get plenty of different sounds out of these cars depending on what you like (quiet, rumbly, loud, ups truck, etc).
Rear end gears definetely are a good investment if you like driving a race car and feeling the torque more, 3.55's seem to be the norm upgrade like TCKTPLZ said.
If you got the big cash look into supercharging or turbocharging it.

Actually, when I first took delivery of my FE, I was somewhat disappointed with the bottom end punch. The car did not hurl me in the back seat as much as I expected. Granted, the car had only 7 miles on it when I first drove it, but even after break-in the car could definitely use a different gear ratio. Now if you plan on doing serious mods down the road, like a supercharger or twin turbos, stick with the stock gear ratio. You will have a hell of a hard time trying to get the rear tires to stick.

3.07. JonB at Parts Rack told me that the only reason Team Viper (design and building team) went with this ratio was for emissions/gas mileage. Otherwise they would have went with 3.55's. I suggest you drive the car around first for around 1000 miles to get the feel of the car. Perhaps the bottom end punch might be enough for you.

Agreed, I think the vette had 3.25 or 3.20, but it did not have this insane tourque

Yep, but like anything, you will probably get used to it after a while. I did, and that's why I am getting the 3.55 gears. I would love a supercharger, yet I do like to eat.
I look forward to learning about my new car here, and hopefully contributing a little to this site.
