2 years ago i got an ok deal on an 01 gts and now i want another and cant even find one for what i paid for that one? I thought the new coupe was going to lower used prices
Having just purchased my 2nd viper and having gone thru months of searching with many emails and phone calls, I can tell you there are some rediculously high asking prices out there, and just about nobody is getting them.
I found guys asking over 60k for 2001's with 10k miles. The market won't support that price. My friend just picked up a MINT 2001 yellow with under 5k miles for a hair over 50k and it sat for sale for almost a month before he bought it. People are just being plain stupid with their prices and they won't sell.
Look at the past 3 weeks of completed auctions on Ebay for vipers. Probably less than 5% of them actually hit reserve or ending up selling. Call on vipers on autotrader, same thing. They aren't selling. They are only worth what people will pay for them, and right now that's lower than most asking prices. I priced my first viper resonabley when I put it up for sale, and it sold to the first caller with no hassle.
Prices are all over the board because the quality of used Vipers is varied due to the age of the gen 2's.
96-99 GTS's are harder to find in good condition so a mint example will cost you. 00's are bastards and prices vary. 01-02's are still coming down but still demand a fair price for the good ones.
I really have not found too many "deals" where upon close inspection...it's not a deal at all.
A friend just picked up a 2001 with 5k miles Red/black for 55k.
Car needs a very NICE detailing . Engine bay is very dirty, and so is the car. Inerior is mint and car drives like a 5k mile car... Smells new and it is tight. It has a couple of scratches on the the front bumper. I think he did ok.
Check out his other auctions in his feedback, he's a dealer and says on each ad that he needs to sell because he got married. Also dealer temp tags on the cars. Not necessarily meaning the car is a lemon, but it certainly brings his honesty into question.

Good catch! If he is a dealer, ... ... he could rotate his lies a little bit so that they are not this easy to catch.
