Upgrading door speakers in a GTS?

I want to upgrade the door speakers in my 01 GTS. Sound Advice says most speakers will not fit because of the depth of the area for the speaker. I want to retain the stock look with the stock grills in the doors. They had a set that were thin enough to work, but they were $600 for 2. Too pricey. So what speakers have you guys installed? Thanks.

I have the kicker 525. Works great and looks completely stock.

Focal makes the best speaker for the money.

They also make a 6" sub that fits in the stock rear holes and provides outstanding bass for its size.

I currently run an Eclipse deck, US Amps, and Focal speakers, and the car retains its stock appearance throughout.

French Speakers... Have you checked with SB on that one???

i have mb quarts all around the factory holes, the tweeters even fit in the factory tweeter pods perfect. recommend highly

Thanks guys. I went with Kicker KS60's. They fit like factory. Put JL Audio's in the back. Swap out the head unit and add an amp next week and I'm done... Maybe. :-)
