I've developed a pesky exhaust leak on the pass side exhaust header, gasket has blown out. I have called every Dodge dealer in Portland, OR and they cant find a part number for one. They find a p/n for the V10 dodge trucks, but I am not sure if those will work. Also, seems that Felpro doesnt offer a gasket, either. So, unless someone can steer me in the right direction, I will see if Cometic can work me up a set of MLS exhaust manifold gaskets. I have the Belanger headers on my 99 ACR.
I've got a set in perfect condition. Pulled off a 2001 with 3000 miles. Let me know what the dealer wants (be honest :bigsmile, and I'll sell them to you for half that.... I'll even pay shipping since I'm such a nice guy! :thumb:
I paid $20.00 CAD for new ones, so likely $16.00 per side USD. I put new ones on my GTS because I don't want to screw around with exhaust leaks. 40 bucks and 200in lbs on each header bolt will give you a leak free exhaust.
BTW the factory gasket is like a two piece tine gasket. I say like a two piece because it's folded over or doubled up if you like.
If you still need a part number, let me know.
my local Dodge dealer finally found me some gaskets, coming out of Detroit, though, will take a week. Since I am a shop I get jobber, $14/side. But since the leak is so bad now that the car is not driveable, I went ahead and tore the Belangers off the pass side of the motor. The old gaskets just disintigrated. So I cleaned both mating surfaces real well and put a very small bead of sensor-safe ultra high temp Permatex gasket maker on the headers then bolted them up. I let it stand over nite, then drove to work tonight- no issues. Not sure how long this will last, but is sure is leak-free now!! Maybe the way to go?! I like how juice it is to work on these gen 2's. I had the coolant reservoir, HVAC duct, HVAC blower motor assy, all associated braces, header collector heat shield, wires, plugs, plug heat shields and wire looms off in about 15min. So sweet. Then the Belangers are juice to work with, too. Much easier so far that the C5's I work on....
