How do you relocate your review mirror up higher?

Anyone do this? Is this something you have a shop/dealer do? Needs some kind of special glue right? Will there be a spot on the windshield from where the mirror was previously attached?

My rearview mirror came off on a hot day, so I put it back on w/ the crap you buy at an auto parts store. It came off again about a year later, so I went to a auto glass shop and had them put it back on a couple inches higher (they didn't even charge me). That was 3-4 years ago, and I haven't had a problem since. Nothing on the winshield where the mirror was previously.

mirrors are stuck at the factory using UV glue and ultra violet light which is just about invisible when cured, if you heat with a blow gun you will be able to remove the mirror any glue that is left on the glass can be scraped off with a very sharp blade without scratching the glass

you will need it put back using the same equipment, so if you dont have access to the glue and light a trip autoglass centre will be needed, unless you want to pop around to my house and i'll do it for you !

the process is clean glass and mirror with a special cleaner (not the usual glass polish), use masking tape to mark around the base of the mirror, then heat the glass and mirror base to remove moisture (no bubbles and good contact) apply plenty of glue to mirror and hold onto glass, another person turns the light and holds it close to the glass from outside the car for just 20 seconds. At this point any excess glue that has escaped can be cleaned up, before the light is turned back on for 3 minutes to fully cure the glue
