Obviously the higher gears may give a little more torque because of the extra load on a Supra but in Paolo's case, 3rd or 4th would not have made a difference. Those turbos are fully in by 3400 in 2nd gear, 3rd or 4th.
This is a bullshit statement. Anyone that has had a high hp turbo car on the dyno knows that the turbos will spool sooner the higher the gear ratio is. Saying they spool at the exact same time, or even within a couple hundred rpm of each other in 2nd, 3rd or 4th is complete horseshit. This is mainly due to the fact that the physical time of a 3rd gear dyno run is roughly half as long as a 4th gear pull. When you are on the street the car has a much higher load and cannot accelerate as fast as a dyno pull therefore the real "spool" time can only be determined on the street. A 4th gear pull will give you a better idea of what the car is really capable of.
You will ALWAYS a lot more torque and sometimes horsepower in overdrive than you will in a 1:1 gear. This is shown in the graphs below.
These three runs are old back to back 3rd/4th/ and 5th gear runs @ 14-15psi on pump gas
Edit - fucking picture won't load up. WIll load it up later.

We broke alot. We switched focus towards Landspeed and Bonneville
Remember when you couldn't believe that we were blowing 5th gear apart running the mile. You thought it was silly
Now that you've blown 5th gear apart running the mile what are your plans?
Underground or Heffner don't seem to have a problem with it... Both have cracked off numerous 7's with the same parts. Good job advertising your inexperience and attitude to give up in lieu of something that seems easier. That's just the kind of attitude I would want from someone building me a custom car.
Here's to being the best in the arena nobody else is competing in...
WAR, FUCK YOU'RE NOT EVEN THE BEST AT THAT ANYMORE.
Things are being settled with Trent and his car. I don't know all the details but I know he was at their shop Thursday with his car on the dyno. He said it made like 1400rwhp at 5300rpm and still heading up.
Trent is excited about getting his car back and that is all I have to say. More details to follow once the car is back in his possession.
Trent will be doing many roll ons, drag racing, one mile events, and general racing over the next year and you will get tired of seeing all of his videos. I know one of his stops is going to be the silver state in september or whenever it is.

buy a spare transmission, which is exactly what we did the weekend we ran 225 in the mile. we may try to go to Bonneville in August. Would be nice to see a Viper break your old one way speed record by 30-40 mph.

Underground and Heffner didn't build a 4000lb landspeed car and then try to drag race it. Underground and Heffner race customers Vipers while we're racing and fixing our own car. We tried to make our car be dual purpose and its not easy. Underground and Heffner don't have their own car that they are spending all their own money on trying to accomplish records with.
We have yet to build a Viper specifically focused for drag racing.
Underground and Heffner are the leaders of Viper drag racing and have the experience behind their accomplishments.
I'm not going to act like I have experience in drag racing when I don't.
We didn't give up on drag racing. It's $$$ and choosing what we can do with what we have. We broke alot more when we kept on drag racing with a 4000lb Viper so we decided to save it for landspeed which is what it was meant for.

So when you go faster and put more power to it then you'll just break that one quicker? Just wondering if you were improving it?
Of course it would be nice to see a 6 year old record be broken. It's not easy getting all your licenses accomplished in a week and setting a record nowadays. The lines last year were 6hrs plus long so you'll be lucky if you get 2 runs in a day. Hope to see you there in August

Do you think it's considered a "spare" when you try to hunt one down after you break???

yes! some spares and breakage you plan for and sometimes you have to improvise, adapt and overcome.
svs - bonneville can certainly be a busy place. the car is certified and the driver is licensed. we will watch the weather and if rain doesnt look like a problem we may try to be there.

That's out of the way and that's good. Step right up to the 5 mile and go for 270-280. Don't say the r word. This could be an exciting year.
so is trents car done yet? I dont need to bring that thread back from the dead. Or better yet, if its done, does he have the car back yet? Did he pay the $212,000 you bent him over for or did you "settle"
specific enough or do we need to do some more scanning?
The $212,000 came from a sheet that Trent removed from our office without my knowledge. I was showing Trent the entire cost of the build if charged at $75hr and 25% on the parts along with the original 18k contract figured in.
We didn’t demand payment of the $212k, EVER. Trent was never given a bill for that amount. If Trent put the paperwork that he has from the $212k on this thread you’ll see it’s not an invoice. We demanded that the paperwork be immediately returned but it never was.
