Drag Race / Car Show – April 24, 2005 – Capitol Raceway/Viper/Vette

The Corvette Club of America (http://www.corvetteclubofamerica.org) and the Maryland Camaro Club (clubs.hemmings.com/marylandcamaroclub) are co-sponsoring a Drag Race and Fun Car Show at Capitol Raceway in Crofton, Maryland on Sunday April 24, 2005.

All Corvettes, Vipers, Camaros, Firebirds, and Mustangs are invited to participate. Gates will open at 11:00 AM with practice runs starting at 12 Noon, eliminations starting at 3:00 PM, and finishing around 4:00 PM.

Sorry, but unless someone clarifies the rules a bit, I don't find it appealing to haul 5 hrs each way so I can be turned back at tech inspection because I run twin turbo and they only allow singles. Unless this means that there are no rules and you can run whatever your heart desires.

Besides, this is bracket, not index or heads-up, racing? So I can potentially line up with a car that's 2 seconds slower or faster than me? In my opinion, if you want to make this interesting, the format should be heads-up. Lights drop, first to the stripe wins, no bullshit.

Yes, I agree. Heads up racing is the best. I wont be racing in the bracket race either. I will run a few times in the morning before the bracket starts. Its not to far for me to drive.
So IM going to hang out, look at some cars, smack talk a little, and maybe set up some races.
Should be a good time.

Have you gone to this event before? What's the turnout like? Will there be a possibility of setting up some grudge matches outside of the brackets bullshit? I wouldn't mind going but I just want to be sure it's gonna be worth the 10 hrs on the road. Last time I went to MD for a Vette Vs Viper shootout, I was the only Viper there. Really appreciated a 10 hr trip to run with 5 Corvettes. I could've done that at e-town.

BTW, Heff, you spectating or racing? You know there's no super-stupid-fast class, right?
