SRT on SRT 10 power.

At the VCA dinner at the regional in Phoenix Saturday an SRT guy spoke about power and said "We will not rest on our laurels" Every SRT guy I spoke to, from Herb on down would not say yes, because they would be fired, but would do things like strike a body building pose when asked about a power increase. It is on its way. They also would react when the word Hemi came up.
The 6.1 Hemi puts out 425 hp. If the 8.0 Viper put out the same hp per liter it would be 557 hp.
The new revised coupe was there and the guys that had been in Dallas said it looked a fair bit better. It looks like a Viper to me, much more than the 'vert. I thought it looked great. If they build it with 600 hp and silver with graphite stripes I'll buy one. There was a 'vert in white with a blue stripe. It is newly available and looks sharp. The coupe will start to be built in August.

I would think DC would put "hemi" heads on the new SRT-10 Coupe and give it say 625hp much like the carbon concept a few years ago. Just the words "The new Viper HEMI would make it sell a few extra units. That would keep the marketing dopes happy.

The viper has kept pace in power and handling with the "best of the best". Also, it has always (up until 03) Looked world class. With the "new" power houses that are out there: Enzo, S7 turbo, Lambo's new 700hp bull and the EB16-4 Veryon (1000hp) . I think it would be wise for DC to give the viper something in the 625hp to 650hp range. With 505ci, hemi heads, awesome engineering and killer looks, I'm 110% sure you could make a street able all motor 625hp-650hp and nearly 650-675ft-lbs, that will sell and keep the viper the Most bad ass American sports car ever made under 100k. What would be the cat's ass is the option for a factory supercharger upgrade. Cheap way to make extra power. If that would happen I'd like to see 725 to 750 and keep the S7 at bay.

The last thing I want to see is the S7 to be the best America makes.

Um...the Hemi would ruin the viper name. Its originality is what keeps it separate. If you start sticking fucking hemi heads on it will be just like every other fucking car chrysler hemi has whored out the hemi name too.

They sure are proud of that Hemi name. Wouldn't surprise me.

As for the S7, I don't think the Viper will be running with one of those anytime soon. The thing is $550k and built to run. Whole different league.

I don't think whoring is the term I would use for the Hemi lineage. The word conjures the past images of Chrysler with unsurpassed power. The Viper stands for the same ideals and should get a Hemi head. Look at the efficiency. The current head isn't anything to really brag about. There is absolutely no reason Ford or Chevy should have a faster car at the moment. The Viper's whole purpose is to be the absolute fastest sports car in its class.
