Need help with door popper

The other day as I was getting out of my 2000 GTS and the door popper got stuck. Now I can't open the door from the outside. The black button seems to be stuck in. I tried prying it back out but I don't want to scratch it up.

Are these easy to remove? Can it be switched with the passenger side temporarily?

Easy to remove once the inner door stanchion is removed. There is a large nut holding it in place and no they are not interchangeable side to side. There is a microswitch attached to the handle by a tiny plastic pushpin, that pin may have broken or the handle itself broke in the door allowing the spring inside to become dislodged.
