RT-10 or GTS?

Hey guys, like many I have been dreaming about vipers for some time now, and am finally reaching a point that I can pick one up as my second vehicle. My dilema is GTS or RT? I favor the look of the RT and am leaning in that direction, but am not sure about the removable tops-(hard and soft) as far as leaking, wind noise, etc... Also any other pros and cons that only owners would know about. I am looking at probably a 2001-2002 yr. Any and all opinions and experience is appreciated. Thanks!

- * Also, any weak points of the viper that I should prepare myself for?

Re: RT-10 or GTS?

It depends on where you live and if you like the convertible ride. I do that's why I bought the RT/10 for Southern California. I even track it topless for more awareness. Sure, there's some wind noise but it's all part of the character of the car and after a while and a few mods, the only thing you'll hear is the roar of the engine.

Re: RT-10 or GTS?

It depends, I love my R/T but if you are going to track it the GTS is a better chose, if you are going to go for "Sunday rides" there is nothing better that having no top on.
Draw backs with the R/T is with the soft top on it is noisy and it should be considered water resistant not really water prof
Some thing to keep in mind with all vipers is the attention you will get, some times it is fun sometimes it is not, you will not be able to "sneak in" any were. I have driven down the streets in small neighborhoods and had 5 or more kids in bikes trying to keep up
Either way you can not go wrong :thumb:

Re: RT-10 or GTS?

If you like the looks of the RT better, go with it. I've had both, and the only reason I bought a GTS is because I prefer the looks of the coupe. They are very similar in almost every aspect.

Re: RT-10 or GTS?

I already have a convertible, so when I had my Viper it was a GTS hands down. Although, the RT's are a VERY fun car. I just wanted something that was a little more practical in Michigan.

Re: RT-10 or GTS?

GTS all the way. Reason? Static torsional rating, 7600 pount-feet (GTS), 6400 pound-feet (RT/10).

Re: RT-10 or GTS?

That top is freakin beautiful- I think you just finalized my decision! Thank you! This is exactly the kind of input I was looking for- from all responders. Thanks again guys, anyone else- opinions still welcome- especially on known viper issues to be ready for.

Jeff, the top looks good. A little too flat for my liking but I'm betting that was the only option for trunk storage. Congrats.

Thanks. I though most everyone had seen it. Maybe I'll start a new topic here to show it.
