DOESN'T WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have any of you successfully mounted pre 99 wheels on a 01? the brake caliper bolt sticks out too much that it rubs the inside of the rim....Why in the hell are these things not plug and play compatible?
Got to admit, those slender spoked 96-98 wheels with the center caps look a hell of a lot better than the 99-02 fatty spoked wheels with the exposed lug nuts with the tin covering. :thumb:
Of course I'm biased towards the 96-97 blue/white cars, but that's just me.

Suprised noones chimed in yet. Everyone must be getting drunk...
Norm , what needs to be done is fairly simple. I think they'll fit on the front, right? Well....either way you'll have to remove the calipers and simply take them to a machine shop and have them "fly" cut the calipers (about an 1/8" or slightly more) so as the wheel will not hit it. Also you'll need to shave the head of the bolt down a little too. Any machine shop will have a small mill that can do this.
Hope that helped
p.s.
This is pretty normal. Guys that road course and want to run the stronger rims or the 97 or 98 style do this, also the drag racers that want to put the 17" slicks on the rear. So it's done all the time.
I am assuming you have to do the same thing as those of us with 16 inch Purners had to do to get them to fit on abs cars.
Just like Gerald said take the calipers off and have a machine shop mill down the banjo housing area roughly 200 to 225 thousands. Then spot face the area anouther 5 thousands with an 11/18(I believe) bit. This is the area the washer fits into, so just have the machinists spot face the area the size(diameter) of the washer.
Instead of grinding down the head of the banjo bolt just get a set of rear Stoptech stainless steel brake lines. Call Larry Macedo. These will have a lower clearance banjo bolt head that will not require you to grind down the old ones. You will also have a set os ss lines on the car which are better.

While my 95 was getting the engine built last winter, I tried to put my 17" HREs on the 01 GTS. Yes the fronts fit fine and the rears almost fit, If I remember correctly it was just the one upper bolt that holds the caliper on that was rubbing. Probably only needed about 1/8th of an inch (At the most) taken off of the corner of that nut and it would have worked, at least with the 17" HRE rims. I was about to grind it down a little and see if it worked but figured it was not worth the aggravation since it was only temporary.
