Fatal Viper crash

From the other site: As reported by the Baltimore Sun : ................. Man, 62, dies in Gambrills crash
November 14, 2004
A 62-year-old Columbia man died yesterday of injuries suffered when his car crossed the center line on Waugh Chapel Road near New Market Lane in Gambrills and was struck by another car, Anne Arundel County police said. Robert Spencer Beale Jr. was westbound about 2:40 p.m. yesterday when his Dodge Viper crossed the line and was struck in the passenger door by an eastbound Cadillac Escalade. Beale was taken by state police helicopter to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he died.
The driver of the other car, xxxxxxxxx, 24, of Whiting, N.J., and her two passengers -- xxxxxxxx, 29, of Odenton and xxxxxxxx, 20, of Eaglewood, N.J. -- were treated at Anne Arundel Medical Center for minor injuries and released. Police said they did not know what caused Beale's car to veer across the line.

I bet I know what happened. The highways in Maryland are so horrific in regards to the truck ruts everywhere. All it would take would be a little moisture and a bad case of the 275's following the ruts and losing control. I took it easy out there when I was breaking in the car out at Heffners. Those roads scared the shit out of me!

Definitely a tragic story. My sympathy goes out to his family.

Re: Fatal Viper crash

Actually the intersection was only a couple miles from my house and I saw where it was. It was not on a highway but a very slow (around 35 mph) road/intersection off of an exit and too short of a distance from the highway to go really fast and not likely there are many ruts on that road as its a pretty small road with not a whole lot of traffic. Plus it was a very dry sunny afternoon yesterday so moisture most likely is out of the question. Not really sure what happened.

Re: Fatal Viper crash

Sad, I wish the family the best. You can replace a car...but not a life.

Re: Fatal Viper crash

I went to school with his daughter and just received an e-mail from her regarding the funeral arrangements. I just bought a 2004 Viper and now my wife and mother are scared to hell.
