Caliper question

I have my front wheels off (96 gts) and noticed that on both calipers (stock), the outside tabs that are closest to the rotor are prob less than an 1/8 in from the rotor. The inside ones are a little more than that. Pads only have a few thousand mi. Have Eradi Speed rotors. Is it normal for them to be so close?

OK got it now. The condition of the pads has nothing to do with that as the calipers do not float. That is simply a function of rotor thickness and offset. You got what you got?

As long as they don't touch, and are equally spaced from the rotor on each caliper, you have no worries.

The only time that will cause an issue is if you have a badly worn wheel bearing. You're good.

I had the same issue on my '96 GTS when I installed Stoptech rotors.

You're screwed. You'll be driving along and BOOM! Front wheel will lock up, then fly right the fuck off. GLWS
