Where did all the Tranny Fluid threads go??

I only searched twice then said FUCK it.

When I first got the car 2 years (approx. 1500 miles) ago, I changed all the fluids, and a driver side door.

The dealer used whatever OEM called for. My tranny shifts fine, no grinds, but I feel as if it could be smoother.

Any recommendations?? I just got a new low pro jack so I'll just change it myself. I'm guessing I'll need a pump unless there is a convenient drain and fill hole.

Yes there is a drain hole. Works great.

Yes there is a fill hole. Works great but you need a pump. I use my Mityvac to pump it in.

Oh that title opens up so many possible jokes but even on the Alley they may be past appropriate....

I used the factory fill in mine. Shifts great (warm and cold) with no neutral gear noise at all.

I think all the tranny fluid discussions were moved to the WWW.LGBTQ For Life site.

I made the switch to synchromesh fluid. I can't recall if it was the GM or Mopar variant. To me it was similar enough.

Shifting is less notchy compared to the ATF type.

A "wise" man once said:

"My pops showed my how to check the air in my tires and add more. Back before the internets.

I've since learned to clean the ash tray and adjust the mirrors. Still before the internets.

Good grief I'm glad I didn't grow up a pussy that has to use videos to do anything."

Seriously though, it sucks that so many good threads with good information and images are gone.

To answer your question: Originally Dexron III (Replaced by Mopar ATF+4 in 1998). You may get a "Neutral Gear Rattle", which prompted:

TSB# NO: 21-06-98

M/T - Gear Noise Explanation
NO: 21-06-98
GROUP: Transmission
DATE: Apr. 3, 1998

SUBJECT: Neutral Gear Rattle With Clutch Engaged

THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 06-01-97 DATED MARCH 14, 1997, WHICH SHOULD BE NOTED IN THE 1997 TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN MANUAL (PUBLICATION NO. 81-699-98004). THE PARTS AND REPAIR PROCEDURE HAVE BEEN CHANGED. ALL CHANGES ARE MARKED WITH **ASTERISKS**.

*PARTS REQUIRED:**

4 of #04874459 Transmission Lubricant, SAE 75W (MS-9070) (Quart) - Mopar Synthetic Manual Trans Fluid 75W-85 / Castrol Syntorque

I would go with the Mopar MTL or Syntorque, especially cars that are tracked.
