Gen2 / Gen5 trans swap question

I'm swapping in a tr6060 into my gen 2 next week. I have a lightened gen 5 flywheel, stock gen 5 clutch, and scored a stock gen 5 throw out bearing / slave. The question is, do I use that slave cylinder or go for an aftermarket one? (And yes I already put the tone ring and speed sensor on the new trans) Thoughts? Not a fan of the lack of bleeder.

How are you planning to get that Gen-5 flywheel to reach the starter?

That's my question.

I'd be more worried about that TR6060's Howell.

I didn't even look at that yet, scored the clutch and flywheel for free with the absurdly cheap trans that only had 300 miles on it... is the gen 5 flywheel a smaller diameter than the gen2's? How's the gen 5 starter reach it, aren't the bell housing's the same?

Gen-3+ use a different flywheel diameter and bell housing then Gen-1/2.

lame. Nice catch as always Dan! So given I have a gen 5 trans, clutch, flywheel, slave, and a gen 2 block, bell housing, starter, and everything with my old t56 trans, what's my best option? Just a new light gen2 flywheel with the gen 5 clutch and slave? Everything gen 5 but a different starter? Start with the clutch/flywheel? Forgive my ignorance on the matter I've never had the pleasure of being under any of the newer gens, I just assumed given the 6060 is damn near identical externally to the 56...

ZZ SRT did this swap; he'll probably see this thread but if not you could reach out to him.

You need a Gen-1/2 style flywheel, clutch, slave, starter and bell housing... then just bolt your TR6060 to it and adjust the trans mount position, and use a Gen-4+ type driveshaft yoke. Simple as that. Not sure on your power level, but a McLeod Aluminum ST with a Miba Lining would cover all of your bases... but may be overkill.

The Gen-5 clutch will not bolt to a Gen-2 type flywheel, and the slave wont work on anything but. In this case... they are a set.

Well that sucks. I'm running a fully built na ~750hp with ported gen 4 heads, and the car spends half its life at the road courses, no drag, so nothing crazy strong is needed, but would love a super light flywheel. I have a machined a shim for the tone ring and pressed it on and added 3 set screws for good measure. I have the gen4+ rear yoke, and machined the mount, so everything from that end should be taken care of...

Could I just machine a new spur for the starter or are the flywheels wildly different in diameter?

So looking for basically stock gen5 strength in a clutch, but in a lighter package if possible, and not too much $$$

Off the top of my head I don't remember the difference in diameter, but I highly doubt that it would be possible to reach the teeth properly with just a different starter gear.... assuming it is even replaceable, I have never looked. If I was to guess, its around 1" smaller in diameter. It is a 144 vs a 152 tooth ring gear, same pitch.
