Valve Cover Bubbles

I've searched and found that it's not unusual for this to happen. However, my question is based on the picture is this excessive or normal? The car is a 2001 with 37k miles which I am considering purchasing. The passenger side cover along with intake show no signs of bubbling. Just being sure there is not an underlying problem that may have caused it since it is just once side and in many places. Thanks.

Pic too small to see it but I would not read anything into one side doing it versus the other side not doing it.

It is possible one side is getting hotter than the other due to some underlying issue. My passenger side consistently ran hotter than the driver's side. About 50 if I recall. And my valve covers bubbled up, one side worse than the other. Eventually I removed the cats, repainted the covers and now everything is even.

Regardless, it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.

ABS helps keep the engine heat balanced Chuck. You should get ABS.

Usually the valve cover that's facing North develops the most bubbles. FWIW.

After speaking with the seller further the car has had a Belanger exhaust from headers back with high flow cats since 2005. The water pump has also been replaced but the power steering bracket and pulley have not been changed so that would be on my to do list if I purchase it.

Thanks again for the info.

I had a couple small bubbles starting to develop at about 50k miles. I drive with bags of ice on my intake during the summer which seemed to halt the process. You should try it.

Do you put the martini olives near cylinder 10, or up near 1?

Dry ice, or water ice?
