3.55 gears with 345/30/19?

Hi,

First time posting

I have a 97 GTS with gen 3 wheels And I recently bought 3.55 gears but haven't installed yet. Now after reading info on gears and tire size it seems like i made the wrong choice.

Anyone running 3.55 with 345/30/19 and like it?

Car has 100%straight piped exhaust and k&n intake.
I will be adding roller rockers sct canned tune and the rearend gears soonz.

In the very very distant future i may do FI. But for right now I'm gonna stay NA (maybe do Greg Good heads)

I wish I had gone 3.73 when I changed, but at the time, I had highway trips planned. I'm running GenIII 6 spokes because they are the best looking OEM Viper wheel ever made - except Stryker Red steering wheels. I'm running 355/30. Why did you go with such skinny tires?

The real answer is only you can tell you if you like it. I really liked the improvement of 3.07 to 3.55, but as little as I drive on the freeway, I'm going to 3.73 once this cancer inconvenience is over.

I have 3.73's with a 28" OD tire. No regrets. Except launches are a little tricky...

Difference between 3.73 and 3.55 is not that much 5%, originally I was debating over 4.10's glad I didn't go that route.

These cars have much more torque than others and react a little different to gears. I don't think you will see that much difference between them.

If you already installed the 3.55's I'd spend the money on power adders as opposed to changing to 3.73's

No complaints with 3.55 and 345/30/19 Pilot SuperSports.

3.55's are a great gear with the 19" wheels. Who said they were the worst combo? Maroon Viper guy, right?

Did you have your 345/30/19 tires before you went to 3.55 gears? If so did acceleration feel alot better?

Also whats your rpm at 80mph

Since you haven't installed them... see if you can exchange for 3.73s.

I have same size tire (345-19) with the 4.11 gears. They're alot of fun zipping around town and still decent on the highway... 1800-1900 RM at 70, and 18mpg.

I have Gen III six spokes (unfortunately not maroon) and went with 3.73s. With the larger tire diameter the effective ratio comes out to be somewhere around 3.55. I don't have any complaints. Try and exchange your parts for a 3.73 ratio. If you can't, it's not the end of the world. Install them and enjoy.

3.55's are fine with a 345/30-19 (27.1" tire).

Your setup is effectively equivalent to a 3.38 final drive on a stock 335/30-18 (25.9" stock tire).

Many track guys (road course) consider 3.31's "ideal" for a stock tire'd car, so that's pretty much what you have.

3.55's are great for NA. I enjoyed them. Since going FI, I personally find stock gearing much better.

So keep your stock gears on a shelf just in case.

Your exhaust must be loud as shit.

haha

Not as loud as i thought it would be. But its pretty bad ass hearing it idle all the way across a parking lot and everyone looking at the loud ass viper. Cold starts in my garage give me a chub.

I have bolt on's, 3:73 and a 345/30/19 its a great combo. Sometimes I wish I had a little less gear for first, but the rest are a riot.

Yeah I redline 1st at about 40 mph but it gets there instantly with the Roe. And agree with the rest of your statement too; they are fun.

Someone with some balls lol. I have 3:73. 4:11 would be great on a N/A viper.

3:73's on the street with a sticky tire are hard to beat for an NA viper. A 17" wheel with some sticky meat and some heat in them can really surprise a lot of people.

I have a hard enough time keeping the 19" from blowing off with the 3:73s and i'm only at ~480whp/510wtq or so.
