One thing you may not know about the silver cars is that the factory had SERIOUS problems getting the paint to match between the hard parts and the flexible fascias. They ended up changing paint suppliers in order to get a formulation and process that got the metalflake bits to "flop" consistently from batch to batch and part to part.
Good to note. I talked with the local Viper owner - paint & body shop owner, and he said the same thing, due to the components being different materials, it was hard to match them, but as I noted, when I get close up on the front fascia and hood, I can see a difference between the two as it is, so I'm not so concerned with a repaint.
My Rt-10 (silver) has the same problem, the trunk is darker than the rest of the car, I was going to get it re-painted but the stripes helped a lot to hide it.
sluaghter, just out of curiosity, what kind of abuse is your car having to endure? Gravel roads, lots of construction, or what?
Hmm, let's see - lots of typical scrubbing, particles repeatedly striking the front end at 150+, occasional curb-stops, lots of off-road driving, e.g., on friend's farms in the snow with dirt embankments, and all the things you mentioned
He was a couple of weeks out in California but got back last week. I'm not sure what the heck he's up to. I'll have to ping him this weekend and report back.
