Tire/Wheel Combinations
I've been considering some tire/wheel combinations and I'd love some input. Basically, I'm considering the following for my 2000 ACR:
Option 1:
SpeedStar Rims and Pilot Sport Cups
F: 18x11, 295/30/18
R: 18x13, 345/30/18
Price: ~3,725 including mounting and shipping
Option 2:
SpeedStar Rims and Pilot Sports (on sale)
F: 18x11, 275/35/18
R: 18x13, 335/30/18
Price: ~3,075 including mounting and shipping
Option 3:
SpeedStar Rims and Kumho V700s
F: 18x11, 285/30/18
R: 17x13, 335/35/17
Price: ~3,031 including mounting and shipping
I'd like to keep the price below $4,000, get lighter rims for autocrossing (and the occasional track day), and stay with a tire that I can drive on the street so I don't have to trailer the Viper or have my wife follow me in another car with the rims. (And no, I'm not towing with the Viper.)
Any thoughts on other combinations anyone would recommend would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Lou

This one, but change the fronts to the 285's for a few more bucks...and buy an extra set of rears right now for later use...I have two sets plus the ones on my rears are practically new...You can't beat the price right now...

Re: Tire/Wheel Combinations
I'm with Gerald on this one. The price of the pilot sports are just awesome and i'd stick to those. I have an extra set of rear rubber sitting in my garage to be mounted after this summmer when my stock tires have been worn down.

I like the Kumhos. They are SUPER sticky, but will sandblast your side sills.

Re: Tire/Wheel Combinations
I have never even seen your car let alone the wheels. I would like to if you have some pics.
Do you have Speedstar wheels on it? I am not knocking you if you do.
The reason I said they are ricer wheels is all I ever see them on is jap cars. And they are jap wheels.
Hell, I have a jap car and I did not even put on jap wheels. I put on Italian wheels, tires, and brakes.

Years ago HRE was H ayashi(sp) R acing E quipment.
I have adds somewhere in old magazines.
I was just wondering if they are now a U.S. company or if it's a totally diff. co.?
