cone filters??

I have seen those cone K&N filters that delete the Viper airbox, are those any better than the stock airbox with K&N filters? If so, how much airflow or HP we talking?

Re: cone filters??

nope, at least no one has ever been able to measure any. From my armchair philosophy, since we see a 10hp bump when going to smooth tubes with the stock airbox, the last thing I'd do is introduce a 'S' bend into my tubes with an aftermarket airbox. The K&N aftermarket box does this (the box, not just strapping two big cones to some metal intake tubes).

Take the rain baffle out of the stock box and then I don't think it gets much better.

Re: cone filters??

On top of that, you're then sucking hot air from under the hood (really bad for HP), unless you also buy one of those aftermarket flat pieces that goes under the filters.

Re: cone filters??

When you are running down the road the cone filters are not sucking hot air.
