Just talked with the promoter at Columbus.
The V10 schedule for the Street Tire Shootout is Friday night 8/6 during the open test and tune. The track will be reserving the paved pits next to the staging lanes for Vipers both days.
BONUS: If you arrive before 3PM on Friday at the pit gate you will be given VIP entrance and first crack at the paved pits. Just pull into the regular pit entrance BEFORE 3PM and the track will let you in early. Regular entry starts at 4PM. Remember you'll have to pay the Friday night test and tune entry fee.
TECH. The track knows what to expect, but they aren't blind! Use Common Sense if your stretching the NHRA safety rules. If you don't have a bar "I run in the low twelves" If you have a bar "I run in the 10s" If you have a bar don't give them any reason to question any of your other equipment. BE sure the belts are current, have a catch can, have a jacket etc. We can get all the cars through tech that have raced at previous event will modesty and common sense. One exception is we won't get an 8 sec car in without a rollbar, John!
Now, I have a question. Is this event only drag racing or is it a combo Drag and autocross? I seem to remember that this event requires us to use the same tire set up. Anybody know for sure?
Does the Street tire class include ET Streets or just drag radials ?
Street Tire shoot-out is Pilots only! The owner of the car must drive the car!
Friday night will host the V10 Nats Street Tire Shootout and is also open test and tune for any race setup.
The AutoX is part of the Neo Nationals partner event. Your registration fee gets you in both. There will be a Two basic Viper AutoX classes, Stock tires (OE type tires and a Modified class for soft compound tires. The Combo Event is sponsored by the OHIO VCA. To qualify you need to run the AutoX and a drag race with the same set up, tires, shocks etc. Low combined ET wins. You can run slicks and skinnies in the AutoX if you want! Just prove your ET slip was on the same setup as AutoX.
You don't have to run that same setup all weekend. You can go back to you drag setup and run the V10 Nats classes.
Guys your not going to get to many events where you'll get as many passes at an AutoX course. Granted the course will not be SCCA Pro solo quality, but it will be challenging. You'll get plenty of passes on the strip as well.
You need to be there before 3PM to get the VIP entrance. At 4PM the line starts for regular test and tune at the pit gate. You'll have to wait and come in with the regulars at that point, but you'll still get into the reserved parking. Test and Tune runs start at approx 5PM.
