chromed side badges

Hi,

i ordered a set of chromed side logos (you know the "Viper RT/10" text) for my RT/10.
I ordered the set from partsrack.com. Unfortunately i didn't get any instructions on how to remove the old badges and install the new ones and Jon wrote in an e-mail after the sale that he didn't have any instructions (this has become a common theme in my deailings with partsrack by the way).

So, has anyone removed the old badges and installed new ones? I'm looking for help on how to do it, i obviously don't want to scratch the paint. I was thinking about using fishing line to remove the badges and then something else (now sure of what) to remove the residual glue.

Any ideas, recommendations or suggestions is much appreciated!

(yes, i am a poser -i know...)

Heat them up pretty good with a hair dryer or heat gun...then do the fishing line trick to remove them...Remove the remaining adhesive with rubbing alchohol, WD-40, or 3M Adhesive Remover...

par,
The hairdryer is the safest method to heat up the adhesive backing, especially if you are not experienced with a heat gun (very hot very easy to burn paint).

Re: chromed side badges

sticking the car out in the hot sun usually works too along with the fishing line or dental floss.

Do this if you are nervous about a heat gun or hair dryer.

Be careful and go slow with removing the adhesive or you will be doing a lot of buffing to get the paint nice again.

Be careful with a heat gun as you can really burn the paint, even make it bubble. Just use a hair dryer with dental floss. Works great.

Chuck Tator told me about the dental floss method. That's the way to go.
I think waxed wintergreen works best
