What do you think is a fair price on this car? It has some bolt-ons (headers, high-flow cats, hid lights, etc). About 17,000 miles. I assume good interior and exterior condition (haven't seen the car in person yet).

What, if any, common problems have the 2000 rt/10s experienced? What should I look for? Any TSBs, recalls, etc?

Thanks,

Paul I sold my 2000 RT/10 last year, 27K miles, $14K in upgrades I got $52K here in Cali. Two things to check on Recall 999 (bracing the front undercarriage) and check the build date. Its on the driver's side door jam, if it was built before 11/99 you may have a cylinder issue, anything after 11/99 is fine.

.
Thanks, SoCal. That's good to know.

I just ran into a guy who's selling a gray 2002 rt/10 bone stock with barely over 4000 miles. He's looking for high 50s. He's also got a mint GNX that I'd love to get my hands on.

I guess patience is key. I think Vipers hold their values much better than the Vettes but both cars have taken a spanking lately. Brand new'04 Z06s are selling as low as $43,000. I feel for the poor bastards who are asking $39,000 for '03s. The dealers are completely screwing up the used Z06 market. Favorable for the buyers, though. Sooner or later, though, I'll have a snake in the garage.

BTW, any particular sites I should be looking at for used Vipers? I have a 27' enclosed trailer so I'm willing to travel couple hundred miles for the right price.
texastoys.com always has decent deals on vipers and so does fitzmotorsports.com. Autotrader.com has a lot but BEWARE of a deal that looks too good to be true...usually is. I found out that there are tons of scammers on that site. If someone ask for a deposit to just look at the car they are definitely out to FUCK YOU OVER!

if you can get the vin number for the car and p/m it to me i'll look it up see if it needs any recalls or has any restrictions on it for you..and see what the service history is if any....Len

Re: Looking at a 2000 rt/10

I have a 2000 R/T 10 and it was steel gray, and I repainted it (I always loved the '96/'97 blue).

I like steel gray a lot, but it's a bit more classy than racy.
But you already have a racecar.

I haven't had any problems with mine (23K miles). I installed HIDs and high flow cats and cat-back, and with headers that adds in about $4K, but mostly mod costs get lost upon reselling.

The $49K price doesn't look bad at all to me, but I haven't been looking for a while, and the prices could have slipped a bit more lately.

One thing to consider is that the 2001 and newer Vipers have ABS standard, which is nice if you can find one for about the same price as a 2000.

I'm very familiar with pricing of various bolt-ons for Vettes but I'm clueless when it comes to Vipers.
Dude headers are 2k plus installed, hids another $650, exaust another 1k, and it's a rare color @49k it is a steal for the modds you are already getting with it. I believe that car also has a vec1 installed on it another $500. Forget the mileage, that aint nothing, these cars were meant to be driven not idolized I've seen the car in person, and believe me once you hear the exaust note on that sucker you will want it The paint is also pretty mint. Do yourself a favor and go check out the car in person. Unless you see it, smell it, and taste it you will really have no idea what it's worth I too went from a vette to a viper and believe me these are must have modds that the car has

Gees I'm still trying to find a 99-00 Red RT/10 with under 30K miles for $42K and I still cant find one. And red is suppose to be a popular color? Dealers just want $50K + for the car even if it has 40K+ miles on it?

There's got to be a 99 or 00 red RT in that price range somewhere?

Did Jeff see this post and tell you to chime in? I have one concern about this car - the lack of ABS. I'm a little concerned because my wife will be driving this car. That's why I've been looking at 2002 and 2001 RTs. I haven't ruled this one out yet but if I can get a 2002 for 55-57 grand then I'd much rather buy that.

Paul,

I'm pretty sure I have this one sold. Call me and tell me exactly what you want and I'll get you one. I'm starting to sell alot more Vipers lately since we got the new showroom. Would be glad to help anyone else out either buying or selling any type of car.

Actually, I'm trying to help him sell it, so that I dont buy it  ABS is over rated and is not worth the extra 7k imo For $2500 put some stoptech brakes and you are good to go

Ain't that a bitch, huh? I got a few bucks just burning a hole in my pocket.

Looks like I've found exactly what I've been looking for. 2001 RT with 7500 miles, Sapphire with cognac interior, and a few bolt-ons. I'm going to make the guy an offer today and see if he wants to play ball.

I would go with a 96-99 for the forged pistons or go 01-02 for the ABS brakes.

Sorry, bro. I decided to go for a sapphire/cognac. I liked the combo even more than the steel gray. Here are a couple of pics:
