96 VS 97 GTS hood

I have a 97 GTS viper with a incorrect hood and I've found a good deal on a 96 GTS hood, my hood is smooth and this one has the triangle in the front and venting on it.

The question is, will the hood match fine or still have gaps around the head lights?

the 96 hood will fit , why is yours a gen I ?

The hood should fit just fine. The gap around the headlights is not controlled by the hood. You adjust the front fascia to the hood first, then install the headlights to evenly fill the holes. Last step is aiming the lights. You will need a 5mm socket.
