Disable 1 -> 4 skip shift thing

My car wants me to shift from 1'st to 4'th when i am going slow in first and try to pull the shifter down, I have to put it in neutral and go side to side before it will let me hit second unless I am on it more in 1'st.

Is this similar to GMs CAGS?

If you will drive your car like it is supposed to be driven you will never Know it is on there. IE::: QUIT DRIVING SO SLOW

I've only had the 1st -> 4th forced shift happen once. When I realized what happened I corrected it by winding out 1st longer. It's much more fun that way and I never get hit with CAGS.

Yes, the GM T-56 version is suppose to fit and is cheaper than the Viper version. Well worth spending the $30 or so to get rid of that annoying feature.

I don't know what the big deal is about the 1-4 shift. You know when it's going to happen and it's not difficult to "fool" it and get it into 2nd.

Place right foot on the appropriate pedal, press harder, problem goes away.

If your 1997 is like a 1996....just unplug the connector. It will not set a code like later models. The skip shift light will still come on, but it will not skip shift.
