Push rods: Solid or with holes?

Does everyone use solid push rods when installing rockers? My Viper tech wanted me to get the ones with the hole at the tip.

I would think that one with an oil hole would be better than one without. There isn't much difference in strength with or without holes.

it depends on the lifter type, those holes are for oiling the rockers you don't want to go to solid push rods if it's designed for rods with oil holes, well unless you need an excuse to rebuild your motor.

Ahh yea guys,

You need that hole there to lubricate the rockers. Oil is pumped through the main galleys to the lifter bores. From there it goes up the pushrod to lubricate the rockers, valves, etc.

Who told you to use solid pushrods?

Re: Push rods: Solid or with holes?

I mistook one-piece rods as meaning solid. Hole in the rod makes sense. Thanks
