Re: BTR Tom won the street tire shootout V-10 Nationals
I don't know why people wouldn't want to run their own car in an event like this.
I know, there are major bragging rights in competitions between the Heffner's, Levin's, Roe, Hennessey etc. I think those guys should all go after the numbers with their customer cars on their own time.
But in a fun event like this, you guys who don't run your own cars are missing out! I can't imagine having a 700, 800 and up horsepower monster but if I did, I'd run it every chance I get!
Oh well, to each his own and I'm glad you guys are having a great time down there! (I had fun snowplowing my driveway for 1 1/2 hours yesterday too....ugh....)

Re: BTR Tom won the street tire shootout V-10 Nationals
Great posts! I've been away for a few days so am just catching up.
Gerald and Gary - top marks for getting out there and having a go!!!! It takes a lot of balls to show up and drive a car everyone knows to be fast when you are not seasoned drag racers. Those are some wild rides and you'll only get better as you get used to the track... hope nothing else breaks.
Driving your own shows a lot of character - glad you guys are all having a blast. wish I was there.

Re: BTR Tom won the street tire shootout V-10 Nationals
THANK YOU Viper Alley!!
There were lots of 10 second runs yesterday at the street tire race.
I believe though, that the 10.43 is a new record for STOCK PILOTS. Funny enough, my 60' time was only 1.88 and I lifted on that run to conserve precious juice as I had the race won. Could have been a bit quicker.
Earlier in the day, I was having terrible runs as I was overpowering the track from the pressure of watching Dr. Roof, Tony1 and others dip into the tens. I backed off the launch in the first round and WHAM...10.60 at 140 mph. Then the 10.43, then another 10.66 at 141 mph, then an easy pass in the final at 10.97(no sense in shaming a very worthy opponent)
In my opinion, the street tire shootout is the most fun event at these venues. Those who belly ache about the driver being the owner, need to look no further than at Dr. Roof. The guy has been to the track maybe 10 times and is running mid 9s! Gerald.......another example..his first time at the track and he runs 10's. Think about it this way; when you are out cruising in your Viper with your honey, and someone coaxes you into a race on the highway....ARE YOU GONNA SAY..."NAW, I can't..I GOTS TO CALL MY DRIVER"?? Enough said.
Tom
P.S. THANKS AGAIN VIPERALLEY!! I'm gonna use the winnings to help sponsor the next event

BlownGTS with Kevin at the wheel was #1 qualifyer with a 10.664 and I was #2 with a 10.665.........I was hoping I would get a bone thrown my way, didn't happen, but it was close. The street tire shootout is a good time !! Congrats to Tom for laying down the smack when it counts. 10.43...on me no less :thumb:

??? 10.664? I thought you guys were good drag racers?. I"m think perhaps another day or two and I'll be making videos or start teaching lessons
that was a weak attempt at smack talk

Congrats to Tom and everyone that had good street tire times. I am so sorry the "pro" Kevin got everyone so rattled. He is an ordianry guy not God behind the wheel. hell I would race him in a heart beat. In fact I have on several occasions. I like competition, not run from it. What are you guys going to bitch about when he finishs his Viper and puts us all in dirt?

Re: BTR Tom won the street tire shootout V-10 Nationals
We're looking forward to compete with Viper's in the 9's. Our recent simple setup went 10.50 flat @ 117mph which wasn't too bad for a shakedown. C U guys in Bowling Green!

It sounds like everyone had a really good time.
One of these days with a little luck I can make it there.
I've got the dragstrip at Gateway reserved for our test & tune on April 10th.
We'll see how the local guys that have had Roe Superchargers installed do at the dragstrip then.
