Many thanks to Viperalley, King GTS, and the other mods here. for arranging this giveaway. I appreciate King offering the package to me and thankfully I got a 2nd chance at it.
Special thanks to John Hennessey for helping select a cam grind and for your tech support as well.
Also I clearly understand now why Jason Heffner has such a loyal following. He has been a tremendous help throughout the install and he is one sharp cat considering he is still a minor.
And my most, most biggest thanks to 1TONY1 for doing the install. I always enjoy going up to Georgia and spending time with fellow rednecks. You have done a fantastic job and your knowledge of racing and building high hp cars always amazes me. Thanks again.
Sorry for the speeches and now to the results.
We did a base run on 12/20 with the car. It had tubes/filters, ROE oval hi-flo cats, muffler delete, and stock headers. It made 426rwhp and 466 rwtq
On 1/9 (I think) we did the after dyno with the Heffner heads which were not milled, but had bigger vavles and were ported and polished. I did now mill since I plan on adding a s/c soon. The Hennessey/Comp cam which was speced for a s/c as well, so it is pretty mild also, and the 1.7 roller rockers. Everything else the same including the stock headers. . The car made 503rwhp and 535rwtq.
I was hoping to get 500 out of her with stock headers and it was more for curiosity sake that I left the stockers on. I will be putting headers on the car as well to see what difference they make.
Driving impression - very noticeable power increase around 3800 rpm's. Even before we went back to the dyno Tony and I remarked how the car seemed to just take off around 3800 rpm's and as the graph shows we were right. It really pulls much harder from that point on. Also the cam sounds awesome. Tony's best friend has a 650R with a ROE s/c and my car seems to hit almost, but not quite as hard as that car. My car sounds really good and I am thrilled to death with the sound.
ET RESULTS - 1/10 we went to Steele, AL and it was mid 30's that day. The owner opened up the track, but did not prep it. He only put water in the box.
My best STOCK et was 11.92 at 117.2(1.75 60 ft). That day I went a 11.38 at 123.6(1.78 60 ft). Needless to say the car WILL go faster when I do a better job driving.
John,
Congrats on excellent dyno results! That is very impressive for heads, rockers and cam through stock headers!
Is there a big difference in drivability (heat, idle, driving in traffic).
Thank you!

XS,
No real difference in driveability and what there is is for the better. Certainly a deeper sound than before. At first the car on occasion wanted to bog or die when it was coming back to an idle. Some of this seemed to be the PCM learning the new setup which is a normal thing. Also John Hennessey recommended adjusting the throttle blades slightly, which we did about 1/2 turn and the problem ceased.
Heat is not an issue since I had a 180 t-stat put in. If the car sits the temp will rise to where the fans kick on, but all of our cars do that anyway. Otherwise it runs about 175.
The power really shows itself in the higher rpm's, so driving in traffic is unchanged from before.
