I'm grabing some cash and cold-calling afterwork to pick up my manifold; since I've not heard back from the owner in two weeks. I could give a crap if its cleaned-up or not....since I have a lot of machine work to do on it anyways. My Gawd...and to think I have follow-on casting work that needs to be done as well. I'm gonna have to find a different foundary to use...unless something fundamentally changes with this guy (unlikely). I KNOW he's going to have all the 'right' things to say to me to get me to come back (we see this in threads like this right?)....but I have to honestly assess other options vice just blindly continue to believe things will change with this guy.

...and add in the down time from not being able to progress on the project, missing a great time of year to be driving in Tampa, not having been able to drive the car for a year prior to starting this project during my Afghan deployment, me now a year older too (how many years do we really have anyways?), and my hood and other parts taking up space in my garage. So these delays impact more than just not getting a part made.

Funny thing happened on the way to the aluminum foundry....not really. Never heard from the guy so figured I'd stop by on the way home from the base...well, discretion should have been the better part of valor since heading to his place, I was navigating through stopped Friday St. Patrick's Day traffic and did the typical lane maneuver around a stopped car and....got a guy in his VW Jetta in my blind spot. Crunch. Sorry....so I ended up with a reckless driving ticket, nice scrape down the side of my truck, and his Jetta with a red racing stripe from nose to tail. AND to boot, when I got to the shop an hr later, it was closed. Some days I wish I could just forget....

How the fuck does a blind spot lane change accident amount to a reckless driving ticket?

Were you doing 145 at the time...?

Yeah...I can handle being the at fault driver...but I guess since he was rightfully established in his lane and I swerved into him...that gets defined as a reckless maneuver. $153.00. According to the nice Deputy, the lowest fine and ticket he could write. Oh well. I really have no one to blame but myself (being honest). I just wonder how fast he was coming up in the right hand lane since when I looked in my mirror prior to swerving, I was good to go. Its not like this was my first time out driving in traffic. I was going maybe 15-20 MPH coming up on traffic. Chuck knows the area....W. Linebaugh and Gunn HWY...heading West.

You should start a thread on the repair process. A countdown of sorts.

Better than my $260 "we need the revenue" stop sign ticket I received pulling into a gas station on my way to CA last month.

I was about 25 miles west of Phoenix and pulled off to get gas and he was sitting about 20 feet back from the end of the exit ramp which had no illumination whatsoever and claimed I didn't come to a complete stop. Young kid, no older than 24 or 25 at most.

Wow, would fight that shit on principle alone, a Reckless ticket is NO JOKE!

By Florida statues; Reckless driving is defined as "any person who drives any vehicle in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property" (Florida Statute 316.192). As reckless driving is categorized as a misdemeanor in Florida, it has the potential to carry jail time.

From the sounds of it, your ticket is going to get tossed, but you better find a lawyer to make sure it happens. If he was in your blind spot, it was obviously not "wanton or willful".

That sounds far more like careless driving, I'd be shocked if reckless legitimately had a fine that low not to mention the criminal implications.

If you were told it was the lowest he could write it's almost certainly NOT reckless.

^^^^^This, but I am only familiar with Wisconsin traffic laws, but reckless driving here is as serious as an OWI and you have to endanger persons or property.
