Roof is trying to lock down dates ASAP so that everyone can plan for future events:
Florida V10 Winter Nationals - Bradenton (south of Tampa) or Speedworld (Orldando) in Feb., 2004
V10 Spring Nationals - Bowling Green, KY in April, 2004.
It would be nice to have an event in the Summer some place where its not too hot.
Then there is the VOI in Ft. Worth in Sept. That would be a good time to get everybody together again at San Antonio Raceway the day before, maybe Wed. or Thurs.
Then the Finals in Dec. - probably at San Antonio again.

The unspoken reason behind coming to SA instead of Ennis is the NHRA sanction at Ennis. 12.0 or better - rollbar. 9's - live axle. No fun.
SA Raceway is IHRA sanctioned and is obviously more accomodating of our cars.
How about having the finals in November of 2004. This year the big NHRA race was the weekend before SEMA. I wonder if the track could be rented for the following Friday and Saturday in 2004. This would be right after SEMA and a week after the NHRA lays down the most awesome rubber on the track.
The only downside to Vegas is that it is at 2100 ft. So the cars might go 1-2 tenths slower there.
What about up north, like Norwalk raceway or Columbus (Ohio)?
Norwalk has a real good track. I've been there and I can say it's the best track (out of the 3) I've run on. I was told the National Traiways in Columbus is not nearly as good as Norwalk. Can anyone confirm this?

Columbus is going through a total renovation over the winter. Track will be repaved and a 1/8th mile of concrete added. NHRA is upgrading for national events.
I talked to Roof about bringing the event to Norwalk in conjunction with the Viper Nationals in Sept. As we know there are "NO" tech issues at Norwalk.
However; I have a conflict as the NSCA has scheduled their final race (I drive a Camaro in this series) in Columbus the same weekend Sept 17-19. BTR Tom is going to have his Vet vs Viper event there. We have too many potentially good Viper events on the same weekend!! How about moving the Viper Nationals to Columbus and combine with the NSCA Viper/Vet program? If I'm correct Columbus was pretty lax on roll bar rules for this event.
Paul - Norwalk and you and the OH Viper guys are all great. The other thing that kills a drag event in Sept is the VOI in Ft. Worth.
Can we do a Norwalk race and have a big party at Calvin's again in maybe June or July? That would work great and would follow the April Bowling Green event. Let us know your thoughts.
We could potentially do the Viper Nationals/V10 Nationals at one of the other Chrysler Classic Events. chryslerclassic.com
May in Columbus May 21-23
June in Cincinnati (Tri State) June 18-20
We have great hosts in both cities. Ohio VCA will fund sponsor and fund the purse!
No matter what I have to be in Columbus Sept 17-19
When in the summer? How about E-town or Maple Grove. Both are very good tracks. E-town is about sea level and the Grove is all surrounded by trees and has cool temps.
D.A is great at both, unless you hit up E-town after mid May.
The biggest problem in choosing a track is their tech!! NHRA tracks require saftey equipment starting at 11.99. Any IHRA track requires a roll bar at 11.50. Sometimes if you rent the track you can bypass some of the tech rules. There are numerous items on Vipers faster than 11.99 that a strict NHRA track can require and effectively rain on your parade.
Roll Bars
Drive Shaft loops.
Half Shaft restraints
Blowproof belhousings
Long wheel studs
Window nets and on and on!!!
Englishtown was pretty liberal at the ZONE.
Bowling Green was OK at VOI.
The Grove has always been pretty strict!
Please put out some feelers on the dates before you book. Many of us race many events and don't want to miss one because of a conflict.
