I'm coming close to purchasing. I've tried to do as much research as I can prior to this post..
My car is a 2000 GTS with stock headers, no cats, & magnaflow..
I've heard several sound clips of different setups. I'm thinking of going with the 3" belanger, random tech, & corsa. I'm getting quoted $5500k-ish total (including shipping, install, tax).
Questions:
1. Does that sound about right for price?? I didn't realize it would be so much. Best place to purchase from?
2. I read online that the HP gains on 2000 and newer gen2 vipers is not worth the header mod. But prior years had a significant HP increase. True/False?
3. Lastly, anyone recommend a different setup? Which would be cheaper and still have similar gains/sound? Installer advised I leave the stock headers, and go with 2.5" high flow & 2.5" corsa..
I have M&M headers with borla cat back. I love the sound and would suggest M&M. The fit was perfect, easy to install on my 99 GTS. I have not tuned the car but I didn't notice much power gain after the install.
On my 2000 Viper I put on Balenger headers, randomtech 3" in/out cats and Balenger catbacks. I did a before & after dyno on the same dyno and gained 25 RWHP and 40 RWTQ. It also sounds great, $5.5K is a good price since it includes the install with all the charges and tax, good luck.
$5500 sounds steep to me. Isn't that like $3000+ labor?
I recommend saving yourself some $green by just doing some high-flow cats and a cat-back first... the factory headers aren't much of a restriction on your car. Money's better spent on some rear gears IMO.

Belanger headers/catback, RT high flow cats was ~ $3,200 for me in 2008. I did the install. I would go with M&M headers which are similar in design to Belanger but with thicker flanges and cheaper.
There are some dyno charts on the vca site but I think I ended up with 448rwhp and 479rwtq. I didn't perform a baseline dyno so I don't know what my specific gains were. I think with 1.7 rockers 50hp is reasonable. Don't forget to get a tune.
It's not the biggest HP gain for the buck. It depends on your goals. Sound? Power? Down the road modifications? I knew I wasn't going to get significant power increases but I knew I would be doing more mods (heads/cam) down the road and my setup would not be wasted. When I started this journey, sound was the most important factor.

Better #s then me Tony, I got 434 RWHP & 474 RWTQ I wonder if the light weight flywheel and 3.55 gears had anything to do with it.

.
Maybe. I've been on Mustang Superflow and DynoJet dyno's and the numbers always fluctuated a bit. All I know is that numbers aside, the exhaust sounds great. One of my favorite pass times is driving through a tunnel. Nothing quite like dropping down to 3rd and going WOT with my setup through the tunnel. It makes babies cry and my neighbors too.

I will research the M&M headers. When you say "don't forget to get a tune"... can you provide some more info on that?
Belanger headers from Belanger - $1,650 (Lou made me a deal that you are not going to get )
RT cats from PartsRack - $309
Corsa Cat-back from PartsRack - $1,625
I made a large purchase from PartsRack that included these two items...the more you buy, the more he works with you
Yes. Roe Racing, Viper Specialty, A&C Performance are a few tuners that can make a tune for you based on your mods. Sean, I believe, will take your dyno sheet and based on your mods (exhaust in this case) will give you an SCT that you can upload into the PCM with the SCT Handheld. It will help optimize the AF ratio, pick up some power and better drivability.

If I were you I would keep the magnaflows. My car sounded great before I went to side exaust with stock headers no cats and a 3" custom catback with magnaflows. I have heard the borla and corsa and I personally thought mine sounded better and I am pretty picky coming from owning v-8s that actually sound good. These cars are hard to make sound good. The key is to get a setup that has the volume without the drone like my did. My current side exhaudt setup sounds bad ass at full throttle but just is too much drone at idle and cruising. Sounds like a damn charter boat. I got another set of mufflers to hopefully get it under control but I think you can make the setup you have work well and save some money for real mods, aka gears as already stated. Or hell for that price your gonna pay get a used blower.
