Good news is, it came with a precrushed used set so the new ones that I thought I would switch to someday are still, um, new.
*For Sale, make offer*
Back to crusher, after I got the box clearanced and can close the hood, here's where I stopped for this exhibit.
Yup, about an inch up.
Had the NACA duct out for increased visibility, here's the filters. The old ones, that had already been formed to a degree.
About 1/4" to the pad:
About 1/4" to the hinge bar:
My math says it will crush.
You can see how the old filters were already deformed.
From the hinge bar.
Gonna try the K&N RF-1039 which has a 1" diameter smaller opposite end, and is 1/2" shorter. Not sure why someone would sell these where so many of them have this problem. Not all, but enough.

Have you tried contacting Justin @ JMB? I know him personally and I know that his craftsmanship and customer service are top shelf. I have to believe that he would help you correct any issues that you have with his product. Did you buy this used or direct from JMB?
Also, did you specify that this was for a Roe car when you bought it? I think the Roe cars get a different unit than a stock car.
That's a bummer. The only reason I haven't pulled the trigger on the JMB intake is that they don't have a red to match the viper engine. Justin told me that they had a hard time getting anything to match...seems weird to me...make a product for the viper, but can't match the color of the engine.
That happened to me on my Roe car...I wound up having to adjust the filters to where they were BARELY hanging on to keep from crushing them.
I sold that box to a buddy...he had to buy smaller filters because they got crushed.
I bought Dave's old JMB box and the filters get obliterated. So much so that when I first reassembled my car and tried closing the hood it wouldn't close even with a moderate amount of force. The front metal part of the filters have dug all the way through the powdercoat on my box, and when I get around to it I'll be ordering smaller filters too.
Seems to be hit or miss. Unfortunately all 3 of my experiences with the box have resulted in the filters getting crushed. It's a great-looking product, but personally I don't think I would have shipped it with filters that would have come that close to crushing.

I'm going to order the RF-1039 filters. 1inch smaller on the chrome end, and 1/2 shorter. They are still bigger than the ones RSI uses on their 1000 hp TT cars.
The box I ended up with was from GIII's car. The crushed filters were from his car. My new replacement RF-1030's... Make me an offer.
The box Jason got was the brand new one I didn't end up needing because the Roe that RSI put on came with it.
Mine crushed a little, but no break in the mesh or paper. Been like that for 20K miles. Is it really a big deal?
I don't know if it's a big deal, but I kinda like the shit I put on my viper to actually fit...especially if it was designed for my viper. One of the things that I love about this car is the engine and I would hope they would provide a color matching option. I don't think this is asking too much.

What color are you trying to match? The stock valve cover color on a Gen II looks like dog shit. Are you trying to match that?
The Gen III red that JMB uses looks great. I have it on my valve covers and catch can.
