Arrow What to look for in a used viper?

I am looking at buying a Viper.
Any advice for issues to look out for?
Are there any problem spots.
They seem a good deal right now.

Just looking for a cruiser.
We have a couple other cars so I doubt I will do any major mods.

Ownership history, service records, any signs of abuse etc. Lots of beat up cars on the market...do your research.

Tip:
1. Repaint is always questionable.
2. Ads stating minor damage repair is always bullshit.
3. A good detail hides many flaws.
4. After inspecting my 2003, I overlooked one thing; auto trans fluid in the T-56. That was the cause of gear noise after warm-up.
5. Tires older than 5 years are not safe. Expect to pay for new tires immediately.
6. Never raced, tracked or abused is hard to believe.....sometimes. Look at the performance upgrades prior to making that decision. Old front tires and worn rear tires usually indicate track use. Header install and no cats for street use, yah, right.

I feel like I have always blown through rear tires in my vipers way faster than my fronts. I wouldn't look into that too much. Old tires are crap though.

Buy the Viper Buyer's Guide (Maurice Liang). It covers the vipers in your range. It will be very helpful in your viper quest.

Search this forum...tons of posts with the same question.

Do not overlook tires. There are many idiots out there that keep old tires on these cars (5-7+ years old). Unless you like to ice skate

Old tires are fun on flat deserted roads

First figure out what year , then ask again.
They are year specific when it comes to possible issues.........

Look at the date codes on the tires, I bought my car a month and overlook this since the tire looked brand new. Im now looking to get new ones since the tires are 12 years old. Be prepared to replace stuff cause of age and not the mileage.
