why do dealerships do this?

My slave cylinder went out on my Viper this Wednesday, took it to the shop, and they havent even worked on my car yet, is this normal for a dealership when you guys take your car in or do they work on it right away and get it back to you asap? If anyone lives in the DFW area, please lead me to a shop that they would recomend for warranty service if they know anyone that fast!!

Thanks!!!

Re: why do dealerships do this?

Is it within warranty? If not, do it yourself, otherwise they are probably waiting on parts.

The North Texas VCA is quite strong. Ask them. Find Kingman Hitz or whatever on .Morgue or find their website via google.

What dealership are you going to now? The new Dallas Dodge off of 635 is a combination of McKinney Dodge and some others the Viper tech is one of the best in the area. I would recommend making an appointment, but I have had great turnaround when service has been needed.

Re: why do dealerships do this?

well Keith is out in Lewisville, that is easily 50 min away from me. and in fact, rumor has it that he moved on from there. Huffines always treated me like shit, and upped the hours required for a certain job b/c they wanted more cash. so fuck them, i'm going to see how Dallas Dodge treats me

You didn't say what year your car is, or if it's still under the 3 year/ 36K factory warranty.
If it's still covered under the 3 yr/36K warranty it's a covered item.

If it's past that point it's not covered under extended warranty, it doesn't cover clutch parts, period. Even the Added Care Plus doesn't cover it.

If it's out of warranty, any competent repair shop can handle replacing it.

Is it the clutch slave it's self that's bad or is it the clutch master cylinder?

The clutch slave replacement requires removal of the tranny.

The clutch slave master cylinder is basicly a bolt on part to the firewall.

If they've had the car since wednesday they should at least be able to tell you what part is bad.

If they're waiting on parts, that could be the cause of the delay.

Re: why do dealerships do this?

They said it was in the tranny on Friday, and it was covered under the warranty, but the guy said they had to order the part from Nashville, and it would take 3 to 4 business days? I think he is b/s me? How long is the turnaround time on a decent repair like this if the shops busy? I want my car this weekend, and I believe 9 days is more than enough to fix the darn car, but I usually dont take my cars to the dealership, anybody have any comments?
What is a normal turnaround time?

Re: why do dealerships do this?

I called Huffines for Keith last week...and they said he is on his own now...so I guess it's no rumor. I've taken mine to Grapevine Dodge off 121 the last couple times for warranty, and have been treated very well.

i took mine to Dallas Dodge, and they were GREAT! very very friendly, unlike Huffines. Keith is a great guy, and for anything not warranty i will go to him.
