High output coils?

Today I found a cracked post on a coil so I was wondering if I should get a set of the high output ones or just replace with stock Click image for larger version

Depends if you plan on building a monster TT build or not! When I say monster, I mean over 1500hp! If not, Why waste the $$ on coils if the stock ones work?

I have the high out put ones, no idea if they're doing anything above and beyond the stock coil packs. I have thread on it over on the vca site. I recall weighing both the stock and high output coild, the ho weight a few ounces more. One of the ho coil packs requires the harness connector to be modified, essentially shaving off a little stuby.

I don't think anyone has done back to back dyno tests independent to verify the claims. I would be interested to see.

I have dyno tested numerous ignition systems(coils, amplifiers, spark plugs) on hi RPM small displacement engines that yield huge h.p. per c.i with no obvious benefits until cylinder pressure is excessive. Most of them are not as reliable as the factory parts, don't fit well, cost more and have little or no warranty. The factory coils can certainly support 100 whp per cylinder making this an easy decision.

If you are running a lot of nitrous or FI, then they will probably be beneficial. stock or bolt-ons, probably not necessary, but won't be detrimental either.

7.50's @ 190+mph on stock coils.

I have a set of stock coils that were only used for two months if you're interested. I switched to the ProEFI with individual ProEFI coils.

You think Just pick up Sal's slightly used coils and call it a day! He's a stand up guy, so you don't have to worry about not getting what you paid for
