New Project, Headliner pocket sag fix

I am exploring ideas to fix that stupid saggy pocket in the headliner. I have a spare headliner, or 2 and I have removed that pocket already. I will be heading to the store tomorrow or sometime soon to see if I can make a new pocket for it because I hate the fact that it sags like hell. I have yet to see a single gen 2 gts without it all nasty looking. Has anyone corrected this issue already?

I have not gotten around to it yet but my idea was simple. take a piece of black elastic band and thread it into the weave of the factory mesh on one end and tie it or stitch it in on one end. then, take the band and weave it in and out all the way through the factory mesh , wrapping it around the factory stretched out elastic, as i weave it through the mesh. then, pull it as tight a i want it and then either tie it off on the other end, or stitch it into the end of the factory stretched out elastic. is that a clear enough description? should work fine and look good.

I have been told that it can be fixed with fishing line. But I am not quite sure of the technique. I need to fix mine too.

I can see these working however typically the elastic tends to get all nasty looking like a french fry.

That one is next, I currently have 2 extra headliners to work with so once I get a working idea for that I will take on the center console. I really want to make a plastic piece for up there that could hold sunglasses or something but I don't have that type of knowledge to pursue it nor am I going to dump a ton of money to pioneer a product like that.

Sorry for late news this project has gone very slow. I don't sew and my buddy who does has a hold up in progress so I may bring this one to a upholsterer to have it done. He had a nice starting point though that just needed to be stitched straight. As far as creating something that I can mail out and people can just install on their own, might be a little tricky. The inside of the pocket really needs to be sewn since it only has a couple holding points around the edge. To be continued.

I would love to get mine redone. I would love a hinged door up there to put a garage door opener. would also really like alcantara headliner and lower door to replace that carpet looking stuff

I've got some heavy duty round 3/16" dia. round elasctic that Ford used in their spare tire covers that is a "good "match and don't get nasty looking even with hard use.

If you would be interested in some I would gladly donate some for your project

$395 for the Viper. I had my H2 done years ago for about $800.
