Hey Guys this is my first post here, but would like to ask y'alls opinion....Today I purchased a 1993 viper 24,000 miles and air conditioner...I paid $17500...The carfax says the vehicle was a total lost then North Carolina issued a rebuilt title..The frame looks perfect on the car as well as the body lines, and panels...I can't see where this car had any problems...I was told it was hit in the front and had to have new taillights and hood that's why it was totaled in 2003..Anyways with me paying $17500 do you think I got hurt on the price? I had to buy right away because people were literally waiting in the waiting room to take my place if I didn't buy it... Thanks Guys and I look forward to seeing you on the forum
At 17,500 and already fix, you did well. You will be able to use it for the next 5 years and still sell it for 15-20K if you keep up on the maintenance.
Sorry I was posting from my phone...I actually meant headlight...The only problem with me is the carfax it doesn't say what happened...Here is a picture of the carfax
After looking at some completed ebay listings and seeing some sell around 21 grand with clean title it just got me worried is all...Buyers remorse I guess, plus I was being rushed to purchase...The car ran like a champ and really I flashlighted the entire car and couldn't see one single problem with the frame...There is a small crack on the new hood maybe about 4 inches long, but my brother in law actually is a fiberglass restorer at a airport so he said he could fix it and paint the hood for 600 bucks...He does amazing work....This is my first sports car like this, I own several restored classis mustangs so is there anything I need to know about these models that maybe needs to be taken care of or fixed....
It's already registered here...I bought it in the state I live in...I don't know much about carfax being I have always bought older muscle cars...Does everything look okay on the carfax? here is the two pages..Once again guys thanks for you help
The Car Fax won't tell you much. If you're worried about the repairs I would put it on a lift and check out the frame. Looks like a good deal. Drive the shit out of it and enjoy it!!
I recently crashed my Gen2. Wasn't too bad but the hood had minor fiberglass damage and they looked up how much it cost to replace the hood, 14k is what they were quoted for the hood. I cant imagine the gen 1 being that much cheaper. They just repaired the fiber glass.
If you have front end damage and it affects the hood the chance of the car being totaled goes up quiet a bit especially on a gen 1.
I got my car fixed and its good as new. Had my hood needed to be replaced along with everything else it would have probably been pretty close to 25k worth of damage. Almost enough to total out a Gen1.
So that car is probably almost as good as new if everything looks right and feels right....good buy!
DAMN!!!! Great deal! Use that as a Daily driver and tell us how many miles you've put on it. You could sell it with 100kmi and it still be worth 10k-15k. Just upgrade the interior to a Gen 2 and get a good hardtop for it and you will have a great street car for many, many years! 400hp/450tq is still a great car.
Well the car comes with a soft top and the vinyl side windows but it also has a painted hard top and he said Plexiglass windows... I don't know what he means about that..he said they were in the door or something like that he said they are a pain to get out but look great... shed any light on this?
what snkebit said. it was an original viper, no frills really. meaning no windows, etc. however you will find yourself with the windows down more often than up. (or 'on' in this case)
