Whats up guys... Was wondering if anyone knows a good place to get the Viper inspected in NJ (preferably central Jersey). It'll be up in a month or so and I'm on the search for a decent place to take it to. Thanks!
Any state inspection should be fine as long as your check engine light isn't on.
All they do is plug into your OBD and look for codes. The inspections a joke now. They've gone from one extreme nitpicking on everything to virtually checking nothing. Mine went through with no front license plate, modified exhaust w/no cats. Sailed right through and shook the building while doing so...they had no problem with the noise.
You want to avoid a facility that insists they have to do a road test. Ask them if they need to do that, and tell them you will be riding in the car if they do.
Thanks guys... I have one of the state inspection stations close to home but am not really thrilled with the place. They don't do a road test or anything but I'd just rather not take it there. The car is stock so it should pass, I was just looking for a respectable place to take it to.
Thanks Plum! When I did a search earlier I saw the place you mentioned along with the contact info. I'll keep them in mind if I can't find any place closer. Unfortunately, that's quite a hike for me.

When have you had a vehicle inspected in New Jersey?
S.
I have my car registered in NJ as collector which is basically for limited use and production newer vehicles driven 3,000 miles or less annually. After that you just need to go in every second year for a odometer check in the re-inspection lane outdoors. I go to Sussex county... All regular folks there... The one inspector has a Z06... My car has no cats with a 3" random tech crossover and resonators... So 3" straight pipes for the most part...Sounds sort of like a weapon of mass destruction...
Thanks for all the replies guys. It's not passing inspection im worried about but rather the lack of respect some of the employees at the station near me have for others cars. Last time I was there they slammed my door (my truck) into one of the pillars in the station and didn't even think twice about it (always yelling at everyone too, but that's besides the point). Basically just trying to avoid a headache and find a decent place.
Dave, they don't do road tests for inspection in NJ ...I could only imagine how long the lines would be if they did though

Username might be able to help.. what part of CNJ are you in? Although he is extremely pussywhipped these days, he might be able to recommend a good place in this area. I think he's back from his recent Gaycation in South Beach
Where in CNJ are you? I had no problems at Eatontown DMV. Not sure why you are so concerned with a stock.
Well hell.... if your CEL christmas tree can pass, anything goes.
Like Towndrunk said, Kilmer in Edison will pass anything, they almost blew the roof off the building with my catless Borla until the manager came out and told them to "stop fucking around and put a sticker on and get it the fuck out".. LMAO
