Does anyone else have a similar setup to these? Too loud for basic street use? Meaning waking up neighbours.. or pulled over by cops.. or dirty looks from other drivers.. loud? Deciding on an exhaust setup while taking into consideration sound vs performance.. also cam or no cam?
My '01 side exhaust car is loud as shit at WOT. Guess what I don't do when I don't want to wake up the neighbors, or get pulled over by cops, or piss off other drivers? Which is little of the time, but my point is, the ball is in my court.
The Borla has a low rumble which sounds nice vs. The Corsa sounding more raspy. With headers and no cats, the Corsa was much louder/obnoxious than the Borla. The Borla has a pretty bad drone area, especially without cats. Hated it as the drone was right at hwy cruising rpm on my car. The Corsa drone is hardly noticeable at all. The Corsa also flowed better and yielded higher HP numbers on my heads/cam car per the shop that did my build. Had to put hi-flo cats on after moving to an emissions area and that toned it down a bit, but I miss being cat less....guess I prefer to scare people when I open her up more than worrying if I am quiet enough for them
I'd start with headers, high flow cats and a catback. That will be loud but not overbearing. If its too quiet, cut the cats. Straight pipe cars sound way too raspy to me, so while they're loud they don't sound good at all. Corsa is known to be the catback with the least drone, so if that's a concern I'd splurge on one.
The exhaust thread on the mOrg is a good place to look too. Everyone posted their setup and a clip.
Out of all of my cars, the RT/10 was too loud because it was sidepipes, headers, no cats and high-flow mufflers right next to my head. My Roe car had SVS headers, no cats and a Corsa, but it was fine because it was rear exit. I had a friend (triblk6spd) that had the same setup but with sidepipes and he immediately converted it back to rear exit because it beat the shit out of his ears.
I think you won't have a problem getting loud...but being loud and still sounding decent will pose more of a problem.

I have option #1 and I don't think it is loud at all except for at WOT. I'm thinking about removing the stock resonator just to make it a little louder.
I'm closest to option 2, and there is no such thing as "too loud". But, you have to play around and make sure the loud sound is a good sound to begin with. Would I want my setup if this was my daily driver? Well, no...prob not. But it's not, it's my toy. Yes it's loud, but people of all ages seem to appreciate and compliment it because it's something they dont see everyday, and it goes along with the Viper lore. Not a stupid Honda Civic fart can they see everyday, ya know? I also don't drive like a dick. When I get onto my street I'll slow it down and I'll coast it into my driveway.

I've got a similar magnaflow setup under mine & love it. Can't stand corsa & don't care for drone.... my setup is 4 - 4" round magnaflows in the sills & 2 - 5" round magnaflows in the rear with no cats & bellanger headers:

I love the sound of your car...This would be my preference if I was to do this to my viper
thank you. I started with a RandomTech catback, but it was too loud & droned for days (pulled that back out)..... It was 2 - 6" rounds in the sills that don't fit well (too big around) & heated up the sills.
Kept adding magnaflows (that fit) until the drone was minimal...... Nice low rumble, 3" exhaust all the way back.
