Pardon me rushing around the fucker a little...it was the first time I started it after I *think* I buttoned everything up, and I was the only one home so I was checking all over for leaks and other things I may have overlooked before the car and/or house burned to the ground.
This is a cold start, and it's without the O2s plugged in and I believe the ECU is relearning because I had it unplugged while we welded on the turnouts. Short version: This isn't how it will normally idle or run. Either way, I don't give a shit...if it sounded like this all the time I'd be a happy camper. The video does not give you any inclination of how loud it is, but it's nasty. This is exactly what I want my car to sound like and what I expected from a heads/cam car.
I can't wait to have Weaver give it the once-over and tune it. I still need to swap motor mounts and possibly shim them, but otherwise it's 99% there. I want to offer a big thanks to dave6666 for his help along the way, AndyMac for much-needed advice and sirhc76 for hauling all of his bullshit over to the house to do the last little bit of work on the exhaust (saw, grinder, gas tanks, welder, etc).
Without any more needless blabbing:

I can't wait to get it back on the road, do some shaking down and romp on 'er a little. I only put out 485HP before with the stock exhaust manifolds, a 2.5" exhaust and cats...hopefully all this bullshit wakes 'er up a little more and I can get well north of 500.
He has a 9-5 job here to pay the bills but said he was going to get back into Viper stuff at the start of the year. He had a lot of stuff going on he needed to square away but he said to spread the word that he's going to turn wrenches come January.
My car already has a SCT, so he should be using that. I'd do moonflips if the car got 575, but that seems lofty. I think it might make that if they were Stryker heads, but these are ported stock heads. Greg Good provided the old owner with the specs on the cam he had made, but unless the stock exhaust was SUPER restrictive I doubt I'll get that high. The heads have Jesels and upgraded hardware, but I'm not holding my breath on making a huge jump in power.
I'm hoping for about a 50HP bump...525-535 is what I expect.
I still need to do the motor mounts and finish putting the rivet nuts in for the side sills.
Vipers have a unique sound. Most argue that the V8s sound better, but the odd-firing V10 is music to me. You're at a disadvantage at being loud and hearing the entire engine because you have sidepipes, but it's still a Viper. YOU WON.
Man, I almost forgot about that car. You DEFINITELY hit the nail on the head with that cam/exhaust combo. To me that's almost how Vipers should sound from the factory but again, that's just me.
I had a video saved to my YouTube favorites that had an 02' Bumble Bee GTS at idle that was absolutely wicked sounding but the user took it down last year sometime.
