I used one of Cobra Bob's Viper shifter gaskets when I installed a Hurst shifter in my 98' GTS. I don't know how the vibration through the shifter would have been without it, but it is very minimal now. The Viper gaskets aren't listed on the site, just email him. I would recommend the purchase of one if you are planning a shifter swap in the future.
Seems like installing a vette in your garage would be a lot more effective at all of those girly car noises and rattles from the touchy feely parts.
Seems like I recall seeing a shifter gasket between the shifter and transmission on your car dave. Matter of fact, there is a picture of it on post #3, 5th pic down on your DIY Transmission R&R thread.
My 60's era muscle cars rattle and I'm ok with that. I don't like rattles on my Viper. The gasket helps with that and also does away with using any kind of silicone sealer. At a cost of roughly 15 bucks I not sure why anyone wouldn't use one when doing a shifter swap. To each his own.
No shit. I used what came with the B&M shifter. No where did the shifter say, or have I said, that the use of that gasket had anything to do with anything other than using the gasket the kit came with for the sole purpose of using the gasket the kit came with. I like shit that vibrates. Reminds me that I'm in my car. If I want something soft and fluffy I'll dial up some poon. If however you like soft fluffy in your car, the gasket looks cool.
I posted about a product that others might be interested in. If you don't like the product then don't buy it. Using your logic since your shifter came with a gasket its ok for you to use one, but if someone buys a gasket separate from the shifter it means they need to buy a vette. You could probably benefit from removing the gasket under your shifter and just use silicone since you "like shit that vibrates". Remove your wheel weights too while you're at it.
Look you stupid fuck, my shifter came with a gasket. Instead of calling up the engineers that designed the shifter and getting into some discussion about what the fuck the gasket was for, me, being smarter than a pile of donkey shit, just used it (the gasket), as the instructions pointed out the use of it as well as the other parts (like the bolts that hold the shifter to the tranny; I didn't leave them out either), were how the kit went together.
Good luck with the install. Post before and after pics. I'm not on the fence about this mod. Others may be.

I hope this petty argument over a gasket doesn't get me stricken from your Christmas card list. I'm glad you like the gasket your shifter came with.

As stated in the first post I "installed" the shifter and gasket, meaning past tense. I didn't feel the need to take photos as it was pretty straight forward. I appreciate the good luck none the less.
