Because I am slightly slightly considering doing it but just trying to wrap my head around the mileage on the car and the length of trip. I am on track to buying Catwoods (Carls) 01 ACR in San Diego and I have never been to CA or any of the awesome states on the way back to FL... AZ and TX especially. Car has 43k miles and I dont really care that much about 2500 miles on it really in the grand scheme its not a big deal.
I have read some threads from the past that say its a great experience in a Viper but damn its SO MANY HOURS. I wish I was just driving from like TX and back haha.
Anyone else done something like this? On another note shipping is $2,000 whereas gas I would guess is about $750 if I get 14-15 mpg, use Marriott points or stay with friends or viper people along the way. Trying to get my best friend who is buying my Viper I have now to ride with me but not much luck with that haha.
Looks like its only $170 to fly to San Diego which is cheap as shit, would get in 10am pacific so would probably just start my trip ASAP. Appreciate that offer man!
I'm going to be driving from Northern California to Central Florida in about 2 weeks. When are you planning on doing your trip? Maybe our dates will cross.
Not sure yet which car I'm going to drive. I have a u haul with all my household stuff and flying someone in to drive that for me, so I'm putting 1 car with the u haul and driving the other.
I was thinking next week if we dont work out a time next week Carl is going to China and will not be back until the 4th so unless he has someone who can help me get the car situated while he is gone not sure if I can be flexible.
That would be awesome though to have someone else rolling, where are you moving in Central Florida? When you get here we will have to grab a beer!

I'll be over in Spring Hill about 2 hours west of Orlando. I'll need a beer after that drive I'm sure.
Haha yea I know Spring Hill, I am getting more interested in doing this. Couple of my friends have done it and saids its really fun especially in a fun car.
I drove my 2001 ACR from Seattle to Orlando. It can be done. Had a blast too. Just be sure to set the shocks to full soft or you will be missing a few teeth.
Oh yes, I averaged 24mpg. And no it wasn't stock. Heads, cam stroker. The car has so much low end that for CC I just wedged my foot between the trans tunnel an gas pedal the used just my big toe to adjust the gas. Wasn't bad at all. My back did get a little sore on the 3rd day. Bring a pillow for under the seat to firm it up.
Yea I mean its going to Todd at A&C for the PPI on Tuesday so I will know for a fact whether it will be good to go. I am just not sure how long the cheap ticket price might be good for, I would pretty much be assuming the car is fine. I mean hell it has 1000 miles on the newly built motor, with all new fluids 1000 miles ago as well.
I've done central California to northern Florida, then northern Florida to east New Mexico, then eastern New Mexico to northern California, eastern New Mexico to Jersey and back, so doing northern California to central Florida will be my 6th long drive. The trick is to know when to have fun with the car to make the drive more exciting.
Going from New Mexico to Jersey I blew by 2 cops going 140 while racing a Porsche. Luckily neither of them cared, but I nearly gave my wife a heart attack.
I'm in Tyler, TX (15 mi south of I-20 in between Dallas and Shreveport), you've got a place to stay here if you need it.
Appreciate that man!

Yea sounds like it haha, I will have to bring my radar with me no matter what.
I blew past a few. When out in the middle of no mans land is the best place. I past a cop while WOT in 5th going about 190-200. Seen lights keept in it a few more miles. I don't know I he turned them off or if I was so far away I couldn't see them. Either way. What a rush!
Edit: bring earplugs if that car was as loud as mine was. Not really needed but it would have been nice for the time you wanted absolute quite.
