Looking for a Gen2, what do you guys think?

I came across this viper in CA, I am fairly new to the viper scene (although I have been on this site and viper club website for about a month doing lots of research!), but I wanted to get your expert opinions. Here is the link ... oh shit I can't post links yet!!! It's a 1996 supercharged viper in California that is listed on autotrader for $52,000 (maybe someone that is allowed to post links could do that for me), although I talked to him yesterday and he said the new price is $48,000 (die to the fact that he put the runflats back on those rims).

I had also talked to the gentleman with the Heffner TT viper for sale on here last night, seems like a great guy. Does anyone on here have any advice on that car, because it is in the running with the one mentioned in the above post at the moment.

Hey Curz, thanks for the input! I talked to the guy last night who owns the car and he seems like a great guy, he assured me that the car was mechanically sound and very reliable. He said there was a guy Mike on these forms that is a viper guru that he would let give an independent eval of the car if I was seriously interested. The car is in southern AL at the moment, does anyone know the "Mike" that the seller may be referring to? What do you guys think of the Paxton car? I think I recall Scott telling me that paxtons were unreliable although I could be mistaken ... thoughts?

What do you guys think each car is worth?

96 GTS, had some issues that year, as long as the quirky things are addressed (water pumps, window regulators, etc) then you should be fine. Also, the dash in the 96 is the flat plastic dash...the interiors are a little raw compared to later Gen 2's.

I talked to him as well a couple of months ago. He has videos and pictures. Car looks solid. Id have a good deal of maintenance cash ready though for either option.

just in general these cars are old and most issues are not cheap. Its worth it but just something to keep in mind
