Anybody have a speedo recalibrator?

I am looking to get a speedo recalibrator for the car after going to 3.55's and I wanted to check if anybody has one laying around before I get a new one. I was loooking at the yellow box version and was wondering if anybody had anything good or bad to say about them. I can get a new one shipped for $99 accrding to thier site. How much fine tuning is available in these units? It says they are setup for 3.55s by default and thats what I have but my 19's are taller than stock so my speedo isnt off as far as I think it should be. Doesnt bother me much other than the fact that I am logging more miles on the gauge than I am really driving. I just want to ensure that I can dial it in pretty close to my gps.

I have the yellowbox. It works great. It is nearly infinitely adjustable. I bought my unit from Unitrax. It was supposedly set up for my GTS with 3.55 gears. However, I had to make an adjustment to get the speed perfect.

After installing the yellowbox, I drove the car and used a GPS to check my speed compared to the speedo reading. If the speedo is a little off, make adjustments on the yellowbox. The yellowbox has 8 or 10 dip switches that are used to make changes. It takes a few minutes of reading to understand how the switches are used to make changes, but once you understand it, it is really pretty simple.

I have a Unitrax box I never used NIP. And a yellowbox. Probably use the yellow.

I'm confused. Your saying you have a unitrax and yellowbox? I thought that unitrax sold the yellow box and didnt have thier own. Either way, are you trying to get rid of one of them?

Unitrax has their own box. Yellow has their own box. I have one of each never been used. I might install the yellow some day on my car.

The only negative feedback I have heard on the yellow is from ba$$fan at the morg, and that was that at speeds over 100 either the tach or the speedo (can't remember which...) would jump around a little. If I remember I'll send him a text later to clarify.

Up to 95 mph speedo is fine. At about 105 speedo jumps all over. He said he gave up trying to resolve this with yellow. His car is a sapphire GTS. Think that might make it an '01. He did an install writeup at the morg.

Put in a Yellowbox last year to adjust for 3.73's.
Good instructions and easy install- service manual had the info for which sensor wire does what.
I did the splices on the speed sensor wiring so not to cut the cars harness.
Figured if I fucked it up it'd just cost me a new sensor.

I put the unit in the little well under the front of the center console under the PW switches. Its not weather-proof so an outside install would need to be protected from the elements somehow.

I have the same issue as above- above about 90 mph my speedo needle will just drop to zero for a second, then jumps back up. May do it 3 times on a straight- may not do it for the next 5 laps.
Seems to be no rhyme or reason to it- and no problem. Just a bit of a distraction.

Had it delivered in a week right from the manufacturer in Australia at half price in exchange for pictures of the connectors for the speed sensor.

They were looking to make a plug adapter so there'd be no cutting on the install.
Not sure if they have it done.
Would be worth asking if you want one.

I can't imagine that at xxx speed (or close to it and on your way there), in the "heat of the moment" (street confrontation...), that having your speedo all of a sudden bounce to zero would be a good distraction. I'd rather have it off and be able to know in my head the correct value. Well, when I am actually looking at it, which is not when having street fun.

Might put the Unitrax on my project list then, versus the yellow. At least being the parts ho I am I can choose.

I did beta testing on the yellowbox about a year and a half ago. I relayed info to yellowbox (via Devin @ Unitrax) about the speedo "bouncing around" above certain speeds. Not sure if it has been fixed or if it hasn't. I'm sure it just needs a faster resolution/speed on the part that picks up the factory speedo signal...should be a simple electrical engineer's calculation??

Dave... it's a cinch to install. See if yours does the same thing.

I have the yellow box installed. I have not noticed any needle-bouncing at speeds up to 130 mph.
