Yep, as far as performance cars go, the viper does win. I would be interested to see the results on evenly matched tires though. The vette's numbers weren't that far off of the viper's. Obviously if you want a street legal race car, get the viper, if you don't have the money to have a luxury car(that won't melt your g/f's dress when she gets out) along with the viper, get the vette.
The Z06 is stonk fast but, to most, it looks like any other Vette. And, to be completely honest, when driven back to back against a new Viper, it feels utterly emasculated.
"Viper buyers take the plunge. They must commit. This car is just flat scary. Loud, rough, hot as hell and faster than a Z06, it wins this test because it deserves to — because it's badass and it's not afraid to admit it."

its a good comparison. the accleration numbers of the z06 are definately some of the worst i've seen tested, and personally witnessed. when the new zr-1 comes out it'll probably be put up against it. and i'm sure that will be a whole new ball game then.
regardless you just can't beat the brute force of a viper. if i were going to a more track oriented package though i would personally spend the extra 20k on a gt3 rs porsche. but that's me.
this current generation coupe though for the viper has to be one of the sexiest cars i've ever layed eyes on in person. and to be honest that alone would probably make me choose it over a 997 porsche and vette.

I think I'd have a hard time buying a Porche for 20k more. I personally hate the way they handle. Take the viper and use the extra 20k for some wheels/tires and alot of seat time. Besides the Torque in the Viper makes it more fitting on the track IMO.
Both cars are very respectable, fast , great handling nice looking cars. Why do a bunch of grown men bicker about mines faster, no mine is, no mine looks cooler blah blah blah. Face it opinions are like azz holes, every one has one, if you like the viper better cool, i like the z better but that doenst mean both cars arent great american made rockets! Get over it, there both awesome cars and it really depends on what magazine you read about what one is actually better. My cars never stay stock so i could really care less if a viper is .1 quicker that the z in some magazine article.
