I love F1 but the lack of action is really ridiculous. I dont know why, but the folks who run the series keep trying to low the cars down by doing crazy things that make aerodynamics much more important, which means theres almost no passing because as soon as you get behind another guy, your aero gets screwed up from his wake, and you cant make the pass.
They ought to have a maximum amount of downforce allowed (in pounds) and only a stated amount can from from the front wing, and only so much from the rear wing. That does away with all the super curvy bodywork and junk. Then go back to slick tires, and to control speeds, just set a max rev limit. The lower the rev limit the less power the cars make. Its so simple. that I cant understand why they do crazy things like go from V10's to V8's with a different displacement causing the teams to spend literally billions to develop an entirely new engine.
I dont know if the FIA is stupid, or has an ulterior movie, but whatever it is, it makes for boooooooring racing.

And after that, they can just call it Champ Car, minus puss to pass.
I firmly believe F1 is more concerned with pushing human limits of technology than the technology to pass. And there's alot of people out there, myself included, that want to see the technological edge of racing. And unfortunately, that edge has pretty much come with the end of passing.
However, the last thing I want to see is the same car in every garage, and the end of these billion dollar facilities dedicated going bat-shit crazy on new technologies.
The time will theoretically come when F1 will have all 22 cars equally competitive. It just might not be in my lifetime, and it certainly won't be in yours. Old guy.

So you think they should bring back ABS, TC and pit-to-car telemetry?
I think you skipped over the term "human limits" in my post. Sure, they could bring back active suspensions, turbocharging, ABS, TC, on-board diagnostics, etc. But then you'd have a car that no human could drive, and everybody would be dead after the first 11g corner.

That is essentially the formula that the IRL has gone to. They mandated spec wings and a maximum angle of attack from the rear wing. The teams had only so much adjustment with the front wings to achieve balance. This past season, they allowed some adjustment to wing angles during the races. This turned out to be one of the most entertaining and competitive seasons of all.

And sadly, it was hardly even watched. Comparatively speaking.

Stick a big Ferrari sticker on it and it would be.
Let's be honest, half the douchebags that care about F1 couldn't give less of a shit about racing. They care about wearing red Pumas, a red shirt, a Ferrari hat, and going home to their house in an Accord with a Scuderia badge on it.
I went to the Indy 500 and the F1 race and the entertainment factor during the actual race wasn't even remotely comparable.

One of the most interesting races from an adjustment/strategy perspective was Michigan. Hornish's weight jacker siezed and they had to make wing, stagger, and ride height adjustments to keep him in the hunt. Sam and the team made some huge changes and stayed in the hunt for a long time - until Dario took flight on the backstretch.
