Best seats at Indy? (Boiler?)

Myself and some friends are going to attend the Moto GP race at Indy next year, and we are applying for tickets in the next week or so.

Having never been to Indy, we would like some advice on the best seats. Right now, the most expensive seats are the 'Penthouse' seats. Of course we want the best seats in the house, but 'Penthouse' to me sounds like it may not be open air; Instead it may be enclosed. We're not so sure that we want enclosed seating - there is something about being able to hear, and smell, these bikes as they tear by.

So can someone that has been there before advise on the best seats. Here is the track map, and seating (the red areas above most of the sections are the 'Penthouse' areas in case it's hard to see/read)

Thanks in advance.

Sorry I didnt see this earlier, I know Toby has sat in the Penthouse seats for the F1 races. I believe you can sit inside or outside right in front the the box.

We always sat on Hulman Blvd where turn 9 is on that map, there are spectator mounds there. We will probably move down to turn 10, however the seats that are in turn 11 are pretty damn good because you can see all the way through turn 16 if you are high enough.

Looking at that map section E might be a pretty good spot depending on where you sit, you might be able to see most of the front stretch and T1-T5.

For 7 years I had Penthouse A tickets for the F1 race.

I highly recommend for race day. They are covered but open/outside and you can see and hear it all. Being covered is the way to go. Cooler when its hot and dry if it rains.

T11 seats were my favorite for F1 Practice and Qualifying. Race day would be ok but you will miss all the action in the pits, the start and finish and the podium ceremonies after the race.

It just depends on what you want to see and how many days you plan to attend.

If you go for more than one day I recommend watching practices and qualifying on T11 and T8 and race day in the Penthouse sections.

Looks to me like 11 and 14 would be the best.

I sat in E for this years F1 race and they were pretty good. From there you can see all the way down the front straight, a decent view of the pit action, and down most of the short chute.

For the Moto GP, Stand E and the S.W. Vista were my first choices. General admission may not be bad either, there are some pretty good viewing areas on top of the grassy hills.
