tire/gear question..........
Maybe some of the big dogs on here can chime in. Im curous what tire/gear combo guys are running that are going bottom 10s and upper 9s. Currently I run 3.55s with a 26" tall ET Street. On motor I have just enough gear. Just put bottle on the car and went 10.61 @ 134. Im out of gear quite early and am forced to let out. I was thinking of either going to a stock 3.07 diff and sticking with the 26" tire or keeping the 3.55s and going with a 28" tire. Im leaning more towards the 28" because Ill be able to get more bite on the launch with the more sidewall. Any suggestions?

28 for sure. That will get you to 145 from your 134 at the same rpm. 3.55's and a 28 are perfect for high nines.

Awesome, will do. You guys still run an ET Street? I dont see that they make an ET Drag for a 16" wheel that size.

We ran a 15" Drag with the auto but now it rolls around on DR's.

Can you fit a 15" wheel on a Viper? Im guessing you have to put smaller brakes on. Anyone using the Hoosier QTPs? Always had MT but Id like to go with a full slick.

We ran all our early 8's on those Hoosiers on a 16" wheel. Good tire but only lasted 5-6 passes on my car. I'd guess only a dozen or so on a high 9 second car.

Really? Do u think that its worth it going from an ET Street to a QTP or should I just stick with the MT?

I've seen good results with a 28x12.5-16 ET Street and have had good results with the QTP's. Your call.

Thanks. Do the 28" tall tire fit without any modification or do you have to remove the fender liner?

Depends on speed. I don't think you need anything for running 140's. 160's will cause enough growth to touch the liners.

I have a chance to swap a buddy my 3.55s for his 3.07s. Would that be too much of a drop in gear?

Not sure what else I can tell you so I'll bow out now. Good luck at the track.

Steve your almost 3 seconds behind Chad's best effort. Lotsa HP difference between what his HP level needs for tires/gears and what you're gonna need in the near future.
You only need 3.07s or
taller if your engine's boosted one way or the other.
Buy those 28s !
